Hello Marlon, and greetings. I find it a bit of a shame that you waited this long to state anything about the series of videos because that could -- and still might, mind -- have generated some interesting conversation. SkirtCafe and YouTube seem to be a bit of an awkward juxtaposition, so if that can be smoothed it might be a good thing.marlon8057 wrote:hey everyone that guy that you see in those videos thats me.
Having been in that position, albeit with semi-professional cameras and lighting kit, I can state that being on camera can be disconcerting; it's best to ignore the glassy stare of the lens and either imagine an audience or anything else that would help you get your point across.I'm sorry if i came off as a brat, thats not how i wanted to come off as, but standing in front of a camera and talking is a whole lot harder than it looks.
You are to be commended for at least having the gumption to leverage the technology you're used to to "get the word out" -- and I fully give you full marks for that -- but delivery is fundamental to getting a point across, especially if it's even remotely controversial.now, im not the most articulate guy on the block and i know its hard to follow what i'm saying, but at least i'm trying.
The other problem is that you can never be sure of the audience -- especially in a medium like YouTube. This is quite likely why some of us here, myself included, "took issue" with your production. It's not that we disagreed with the thesis, it's that some of us here disagreed, strongly in my case, with the delivery -- and that's likely down to target-audience.
Is a YouTube channel aimed at 20-somethings going to mesh well with the workings of the minds here at SkirtCafe? Perhaps, but we're rather heavily tipped towards 40 and above, have already suffered the slings and arrows that all 20-somethings do, and tend to be very well educated. Delivery, then, becomes not just important, but critical. Note that I am not intimating that you need to put something together that would blend in with Masterpiece Theatre to appeal to a broad audience -- just that some of the "edge" come off it.
Given this commentary, I shall hereby retract the "juvenile" comment (that one was mine), but if you're to play well to those outside your immediate sphere -- where the delivery may well have been devastatingly effective -- one needs to show some restraint.so instead of putting me down calling me juvenile and rebellious brat, which i am not, i have finished school three years ago and im working towards a career [...]
Speaking personally here, I am in the public eye most of the time wearing a skirt of one ilk or other. Too, I do not have at my immediate disposal the sorts of equipment and backgrounds/backdrops that would lend a professional appearance to any video I might contemplate. I prefer to lead by physical example -- if somebody sees me on the street they're not imagining it, or wondering whether it was filmed on a top-secret soundstage at Area 51 (as has been touted where the entire Apollo sequences were shot). In person I can interact with observers if I see fit; I can judge their mood; and I can adjust my delivery quite easily to that mood -- getting that right on film (or tape or other digital media) I rather suspect is beyond my capabilities which is precisely why I grant kudos for doing the thing in the first place![... B]etter yet make your own skirts for men youtube channel, don't let me be the only one who has the balls to put his face out there, you guys are older and speak better than make some videos dammit, lol
The magic of that is that it is very easily rectified!and oh yeah i almost forgot the reason you guys dont see me wearing skirts in my videos is because i simply dont have any
What career are you aiming for?
