Yep, a Happy one to everyone!, and tonight I have been giving the kilt an airing. Hogmanay seems like a good time for a test flight, however, it seems the belt has shrunk!
After walking home, it seems I need to buy more kilt hose, the shoes I was wearing ate my feet, why not start the new year with blood coming out of the shoes! I should have used the formal kilty shoes, they would have hurt less!
Anyway, I hope things are good for all.
I am the God of Hellfire! and I bring you truffles!

Happy New Year to you guys, too.

Ouch on the shoes... Have yet to find a comfortable pair of non-casual shoes... The leather heel part always tends to rub my ankles and tops of my heels raw.

Happy New Year every one from my part of California. I'm happy to say I've been kilted all week, it's been a good week.

Just got back from a very sober New Year night spent dancing at a local golf club. Not just any golf club, but the third oldest in the World, founded by the British Military at the Curragh in Co. Kildare.
They have a fine facility for a dinner dance for about 120 people. The music was provided by a duo, guitar and keyboard + vocals, of course, but they made all the right noises for the high-ish age profile of the attendees. I said very sober, as it was my turn to drive, and with our new 0.50 mg/ml limit it is risky to imbibe even one pint or one glass of wine and drive. My trick is to have my pint at the start and then eat and just drink water from then on. You certainly need comfortable shoes to dance in!

Only this morning, returning home from a splendid rowing outing, all cars were directed in onto the hard shoulder by a posse of police and even at 10.30 in the morning we were all breathalysed. I said to the teenage-looking cop who approached my driver's window that he'd have no joy with me, at which he laughed and said that they had to do it all the same....orders!

Now we're off to a 70th birthday lunch & afternoon party later on today, and it's MM's turn to drive. My technique there is to have soft drinks up until I'm (usually) required to play a bit of music, then I'll hit the Alcohol!!

Have a sober New Year all you guys, and only test-fly tried and trusted MUGs.

... or use mouthwash. What's the policy on the use of mobile 'phones and the like when in motion? Those are statistically very similar to being above the "legal limit" for alcohol. (We have a bit of a problem with chatters/texters here in the neo-prohibitionist States that seem to get a pass for dangerous behaviour.)

Orders is orders. I think I'll not be visiting the Emerald Isle if that's the way they do things. (And I offer positively no offence to the messenger!)

Yes, joining in with the spirit of things, I wish you all a great 2012 too.
New year not too interesting, here in Surrey, but I did do loads of fireworks in the back garden. This & Guy Fawkes night are the only times I get to show my interest in exploding things

It hasn't started very good for me, yesterday I had notice from a solicitor to say that I'm being sued for £1344 about $2086 for hitting a car in a car park, both insurance company’s state the it was a 50/50 accident, but she disagrees and she now saying it was my fault.
Today I found my neighbour dead at his home – can this year get any better for me.

Oh Richard, so sorry about the bad start. Happened to me last year. Hope thigs get better for you.

But for this year, here in Central Massachusetts we are being gifted with a glorious sunny, mild day. The chickens are so happy with the warm sun. Had a breakfast of homemade pumpkin bread, cream cheese and hommade tomato jam. Yum!

Happy New Year to all and may your year be as sweet as this song

Yes, and when they stop you they automatically check your windscreen for up-to-date decals for insurance, road tax and vehicle test...then they stick the tube in your mouth and ask you to take eight secs. to breathe into it.

To give the police their due, this year for the first time since goodness knows when, road deaths have stayed under 200 nationwide for the year. This has moved us into third safest place per capita in Europe to drive a car. I think Sweden is tops, but they hibernate for half the year, anyway!

It is an offence here to use a hand held mobile phone while driving, but it is still widely practiced. Impossible to police, for sure.

P.S. Richard A, What a ghastly start to your 2012. Here's hoping things will be better for you soon. T.
