In Defiance of the Edicts.

Post by crfriend »

Today was a good one, and I sallied forth to the Big(ger) City to my east to quaff a few cold ones with a couple of old pals. We're also deep into Autumn here, and it's starting to get a bit chilly, especially as one gets out of the sun, so one needs an extra layer or two to keep the chill at bay.

I've noted before that there are currently no rules that govern how guys can wear skirts -- or, for that matter, anything other than tr*users -- but that for the gals "rules" are legion. So I very deliberately broke one of the gals' rules today when I got dressed to head east.

Apparently one of the cardinal rules is that one's slip underskirt should not poke out from under the main one. This is the one I opted to violate -- in colourful manner. I needed something a bit warmer than one of my usual skirts, and I didn't feel the need to go for a heavy floor-sweeper, so I compromised a bit: I wore my long black tiered skirt with a vibrant red petticoat underneath. The skirt is just about an inch longer than the petticoat, so some show of the latter was inevitable.

The rig, with me stationary, just looked like my black tiered skirt but rather fuller than normal. In motion, however, and this is where the mirrored windows of "the big city" pay off, the rig showed brilliant flashes of red beneath the hem of the skirt and was actually -- once one dismissed the formal rules -- rather attractive, not unlike the flash of colour that one might see as a bird stretches its wings. It came and went with my motion and was quite animated, which is something I did not expect. I don't know if I'll repeat this, but in a mirrored passing I was rather pleased with the results.

If the rules don't bend, it may be time to simply break them.

I like it! Yes, I have found ways to get a flash of color, just like the redwinged blackbird of which you spoke. The example that comes to my mind is that I have a favorite pair of high heels that I wear with trousers (mckesson's rule of 'one item at a time'). I will pair these black shoes and black trousers with, say, white socks. The socks only show mid-stride - just a flash of contrast.

So: Well done!

I think we (guys) are already breaking the Western Men's clothing rules of the last 300 years by simply wearing "any" skirts or skirted garments. Skirted clothes have been common for men in the continents of Africa, India and all the Islands of the Pacific nonstop from caveman days.

Here's a suggestion. How about a unique flag for the homes of skirt wearing men. To let the world know it's coming for them too, and the sooner they accept it completely, the sooner the world will be in tune. :thewave:
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.
