Looks like a Garfield coloured Norwegian Forest Cat. Quite a bruiser!

How the hell do you get your cat to grow as big as that?

Does anyone have any size and demensions of this feline?
Could be a ordinary large cat with a small person posed.
But the picture alone doesn't give a sense of how really large this cat is.
Could it be some sort of wild cat that was taken in?
The joke of why the dog left home still stands.

I proffer a pic. of my Menagerie Mistress (left) and friend. She and her husband keep these two Norwegian Forest cats. They feel no need of a dog (unsurprising).

We looked them up with a view to acquiring one, and none of the accessable breeders had any specimen remotely so impressive as those belonging to our friends, also they were all asking lottery money for what they had.

I still think the orange specimen is probably that breed of cat.

Another possibility would be the Maine Coon. Those grow to some fairly astounding sizes as well.

As an aside, Sapphire used to breed and show Birmans, of which we still have several including the worlds first lilac-point Grand Premier (who is an amazing sweeite).

Hmmmm........
The orange cat could also be a plain old moggie.

In the US, Maine Coon cats are larger than Norwegian Forest Cats. Recently accepted into the Cat Fanciers' Association is the Siberian, a very large cat, frequently larger than Maine Coons, also a long haired cat.

A minor correction: our Smidgeon was CFA's first lilac point neutered male Birman to achieve the title of Grand Premier. In the Premier class (de-sexed cats), Tusenkatts Penelope was the first lilac point CFA Grand Premier. Penelope was bred by my friend, Janet Wolf.

While CFA is the world's largest registry of purebred cats, it is not the world's only registry. I do not know if a neutered lilac Birman achieved a comparable title in any of these other registries.

That being said the largest purebred cat I have ever seen was Taliesin, a 24 pound Maine Coon and a loveable mush. Tally was not fat. That was 24 pounds of pure muscle and a very generous purr.
