Good News At Last!

Post by DALederle »

After all the bad news I've been posting in the past I thought I'd share some good new!
Went to see my urologist yesterday, as a follow up after my radiation therapy for prostrate cancer. He told me that my PSA rating was .61. That's under 1%. Before the treatment my PSA was 6.9. It seems as if the radiation worked and has gotten rid of my cancer!
Of course he was "caustiously optimistic" over the results. You know how doctors are, they almost never tell you yes or no.
Since this was my second bout with cancer there always a chance for something else to occure. But I'll just wait and see.
I was really down in the morning before the visit. In the back of my mind were all kind of negative thoughts in case there was bad news.
But now I feel like, WoW!
So some good, upbeat news for a change!

If I understand correctly, a cancer is considered cured if it doesn't reappear within five years of the last treatment.

That's certainly good news, Dennis, and here's hoping it not only stays that way but more good news arrives in the future!

With most cancers, however, unless there was surgical intervention and they "got" all of it, there is always the possibility of relapse because most treatments merely drive the cancer into remission. You need to stay vigilant with this one.

Best of luck!

Long may you stay in remission, Dennis. That was indeed a good reason to celebrate Independance Day.
