Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. This was forewarded to me in an e-mail and I thought it was interesting enough to want to share it. It is a unisexual singing groups that does everything vocally including the band instruments that go with songs normally. Have a listen and enjoy!
`Musically excellent and well choreographed. I wonder if any members are or were members of the famous Swingles Singers who pioneered this sort of synchopated choral music.
However, I think their chosen uniform is ghastly and not a little sinister. You couldn't recognise any of them.
Quite recently we went to an entire evening's concert in Dublin given by the eight current swingles singers, four blokes and four girls all beautifully dressed, musically first class, exquisitely choreographed and a real joy to listen to and behold.
This lot are tiring on the eye after one minute and I wouldn't cross the street to go and see them.
Excellent group, I like the style, the music and well, everything about them They stand out from the rubbish you tend to get in the charts now. Very entertaining.

I think their singing is super, I don't get the "unisex" idea tho, I can SEE beards and boobs, so they don't really come off as unisex, just a bunch of fine singers in (as Kirb said) ghastly uniforms.
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

The uniforms are certainly "odd". Mayhap they are meant to look like vocal chords, which were never meant to be seen in public.
The singing and choreography was very good but not so original, besides The Swingles, there was also The Kings Singers who did this but mostly classical. They represented all manner of instrument by voice alone but never really gained a wide appeal.

Mentioned them? I've been trying to forget them for 30 years...
...only you had to bring them up. Darn it, now look what you've done
Have fun,
Ian.
Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

No problem. "Only You" made them famous (and got them onto Top of the Pops), but it wasn't the only song they covered. A personal favourite is their version of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Sounds like a strange concept, and the song sounds even stranger, but it is surprisingly well done and very enjoyable in execution.
