Happy Solstice
As the title says, Happy Solstice, lads! 'Tis the shortest day of the year for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, and whilst the weather will get worse before it gets better -- and that cannot be sitting terribly well for our pals in the UK and Ireland -- the days will start getting longer with each one that passes; and that's cause for celebration.
So, to everybody reading this, here's hoping that you have warmth, light, and happiness on this darkest of days. Cheers!

Re: Happy Solstice
Thanks, Carl. I had to do a lot of motoring early today to fetch a daughter off a dawn flight at Dublin airport. Everyone was very well behaved, with the traffic moving along at 40-50 mph on the highways, everyone keeping their distance and showing plenty of illumination.
The temp. was minus 13 and there had been a further 5-6" of new snow, but all is well.

Re: Happy Solstice
I can't wait for it to get warmer all the time. Last night around 11 pm it hit the lowest temp this winter. I was wearing a wool nightie, wool socks, I was stuffed under 2 huge comforters. 3 space heaters and both Central Air systems were set at heat because it was a bitter bitter 46 F degrees outside. Yuck!whilst the weather will get worse before it gets better
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Re: Happy Solstice
Save for the fact that we didn't have power for three days, it was cold (but fortunately not insanely so), had two feet of water in the basement, and a litter of orphaned newborn kittens! (Hint: Don't try this at home.) I do not want to repeat that again. Ever.sapphire wrote:Sounds like the ice storm from 2 years ago.
That said, I have no aversion whatsoever to crawling under a big heavy pile of covers on my bed! Of course, companionship helps, too,
