Re: The Unfortunate Necessary Visit
I certainly won't criticize Alsachti (du Nord?) for resurrecting an old thread that I had not seen myself, it was quite amusing to read.
I too wanted say something about France being not as bad as some of the writers seemed to think. Very few squat toilets now, nor smelly "vespasiennes", open air toilets that used to adorn most towns, and public conveniences are probably as clean as in any other modern country -- indeed cleaner than some.
Whan Alsachti said he was not a "sniper" he probably meant that his aim was not always perfect (I know the feeling!)
I can't say I was all that impressed with American toilets -- no doors on the cubicles!!! But perhaps that has changed now.
I prefer to sit, by the way, but have no objections to using a stand-up urinal -- from a distance.
