Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
Well, I just received the call I wasn't sure I would get.
I will be working part-time as a enumerator for the Census Bureau.
20 hours per week, for 4-6 weeks, at $17.50 per hour plus $.50
per mile is not a bad part-time job. Now I'll be able to get the
air-conditioner fixed on my truck. Yay
Too bad I won't be able to wear a kilt or skirt on the job

When asked 'Why the Kilt?'
I respond-The why is F.T.H.O.I. (For The H--- Of It)
Why can't you wear a kilt or a skirt on the job?
Is our government that restricted?
Why, I just can't beleve that! (LOL)
You mean that as liberal as ourcurrent government is supposed to be they won't let you have a job and wear a skirt to work? Shame on them!
By the way, did you see that vid clip about the mailman that want's to wear a kilt at work?
DALederle
Congratulations, Al! Sounds like a nice little temporary side job that'll hopefully tide you over 'til you get a new "permanent" gig.
Dennis -- Al won't be able to wear a skirt or kilt in this as it's a government job and likely has a fairly strict dress code attached to it. In instances like this, where folks will be approaching people in their homes, it's really best not to attract too much attention to one's self.
Retrocomputing -- It's not just a job, it's an adventure!
Thre's BIG MONEY to be made here, Al!
Go for it!
Report t work in a kilt or skirt and when they fire you sue the heck out of theFederal Government. Those numbskulls deserve it.
And then you can retire and go around Mis-Mik all yu want!
(LOL)
p.s.
Nobody take this serious!
I know poor Al would just be fired. But when I thought of it it seemed poetic justice o me!
Well I started 'training' today. It went well, except for the
blasted metal chairs. My 'bum' is really sore.
We went through a lot of paperwork, mainly to be sure we get paid.
Finally, the last thing of the day was getting finger printed, twice.
Whooooo Boy, what a day

We were also told that the 'dress/uniform' is 'business casual'.
No Capri's for the women and no kilts for the men.

Did they actually say that? Or was it a response to questions? If the trainer just came out with "No kilts" unprompted, it would suggest that kilts are gaining more traction than I'd have guessed.
Enjoy the work (even if you do have to use two leg tubes).
Have fun,
Ian.
Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
