Any other musicians here?
Re: Any other musicians here?
I used to play the swine-ette when I was young on the farm. It's really easy, you grab and pick up a piglet; the noise is incredible.

That reminds me of the "greased pig" competition I participated in a large number of years ago in an agricultural portion of the US whilst on summer holiday, The officials would cover a small pig in lard and then challenge the local children to (1) catch the little swine and (2) carry it to the judging bench.Sarongman wrote:[...] you grab and pick up a piglet; the noise is incredible.
In retrospect, I think the "challenge" may have contravened a few animal cruelty laws, but at the end of the day the pig was washed off and sent home (to await a predictable fate once it got to proper size).
As far as musicality is concerned, this question has come up in the past, and if the members here on SkirtCafe are representative of a cross-section of the "men in skirts" community as a whole, we're quite a bit more musical than our tr*usersed brethren. I take this as a positive.

Baconnnnnnnnnnnnn...bacon bacon bacon...mmmmmm bacon, yummy right out of the microwave oven..I use extra large paper plates and paper toweling folded to one square, 2 plates, 6 squares of paper toweling. spread out 6 slices on the plate, put a full paper towel on baking area in oven, place plate with bacon on towel, put 2nd plate on top of the bacon, put microwavable container of bacon oil on top of top plate, which makes it very flat, bake for 4 minutes, or until you can see it's brown and very crunchy, remove, break into bits and mix in whatever food you're having with it. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!contravened a few animal cruelty laws, but at the end of the day the pig was washed off and sent home (to await a predictable fate once it got to proper size).

Ah Skip, yes I deed (taw a puddy tat) but assumed it was a felicitously unintentional piece. Of course you don't pick up any piglets branded H1N1

Hi all!
I'm a jazz musician, playing in a few bands here in the south bay area of San Francisco. Primarily a bass player [upright and electric] but also play vibes, guitar, and keyboards. I also play flute but not as often as I used to. On most of the gigs, I like wearing my black Utilikilt and either a black T-shirt or a black dress shirt. One time, when I wore jeans instead of my kilt, one guy in the band asked me if there was something wrong!
My day job is being a pipe organ technician, tuning and maintaining classical and theater organs. So, everything I'm doing involves music... I love it!
I'll see if I can get some pics posted soon...

Played piano since 7 years. Practice about an hour daily. Classical romantic, American swing, show music, Irish traditional, parlour songs, Novelty piano solos, ragtime, beetles &c. I Entertain at parties.
Oboe, only recently taken up. Can't entertain on it yet.
'Cello. Played since teenager. Not enough practice, so tends to be for Christmas carols only.
Tin-whistle/flageolet. Major instrument. 'you aint seen nuthin, yet !', as Al Jolson used to say. Normally for Irish dance music and slow airs...I'll also give you Dvorak, Chopin, Hoagy Carmichael and George Gerschwin on it !
I've croaked in choirs since the Magna Carta. First soprano, then tenor. Ran a secular choir in the UK for 12 years. Too old to hack the hassle now, so I continue to croak for others. I like the religious stuff and sing for our local Cathedral.

Spanish guitar, a Martin Mandolin, Appalachian Banjo, but not much lately. I play my Spanish guitar, a Segovia, about 3 times a week to keep my fingertips tough and my left hand fingernails hard. I play left handed. My favorite piece is Malaguena. I have the sheet music from Andres Segovia (The Master of the Spanish Guitar). I play all his pieces, but I'm not even close to his quality. When he died, I mourned him for months.

Yup, musician, too. I play bass horn in several local bands. Two gigs coming up in the next week. I don't wear my UKs in performances as we have a band "uniform," but no biggie.
"I can't get used to suburbia so suburbia will have to get used to me."

You don't get to judge me by your standards. I have to judge me by mine.
