In America and the United Kingdom I think there are at least 20 Rock,Punk or Goth Top bands that have at least one and sometimes more up to all the members skirted or kilted. Not ones on the Ed Fullavit (what I like to call the "American Idol") show. Ed being Simon Cowell there, but in the stadiums and stage appearances circuit.

Yes - I'm here. I am an orchestral clarinettist and I usually wear a long black skirt and black top when playing in concerts.
I also play traditional free-reed instruments (concertina, button accordeon, etc) and often will wear a skirt or sarong at a summer gig.

Count me in as an instrumentalist. If you are considering devotees of the free reed instrument then I count myself as one. My love is the reed organ/harmonium and I am getting in a Mannborg with pedal point in a couple of days and am still working out the logistics of getting up a Mason & Hamlin "LISZT" with pedal point. I'm still on the lookout for a comprehensively ranked Mustel or Schiedmayer harmonium. The first two brings my collection to 16!

In a manner of speaking. I call myself an "aspiring back-bench musician."

Guitar -- folk music, plus rythm & harmony for contra/english dance tunes (no melody)
Flute -- folk music and traditional dance music (reels, jigs, waltzes)
Piano -- classical (for my own enjoyment only), plus accompaniment for hymns and Christmas carols with more practice than I usually put in.
Singing -- amateur chorus and folk singing.

Like most amateur musicians, I would play a lot better if I practiced more regularly /

As should by now be expected here, doing so while skirted is a non-issue in most places I'm likely to do any of the above.

Gibson B-25 steel strings acoustic, Martin Mandolin acoustic, Fender Bass circa 1973. But woe is me, it's been so long since I played any of the above, my fingers have gotten soft and weak.

I play the woodwinds, the bassoon being my 'major' instrument. More recently, I've played flute and oboe at church on an irregular basis. There isn't enough time for me to be a regular member of an instrumental ensemble. I do (attempt to) sing in my parish choir every Sunday.

I have been singing since grade-school and sing with two different choruses currently. Once is clearly a community chorus, the other has been called professional, but really isn't. *We* don't get paid, but the group gets paid for gigs. We just wrapped up Carmina Burana, we had 150 singers on stage (two other groups joined our group of 80), 2 concert grands and a full orchestral percussion section for Carmina. It was fabulous, we blew the wigs right off of the audience. The house was packed!

Played piano since I was a 5 year old, could do more with it if I wanted -- like a band, but I am focusing on voice for now. Perhaps when my voice peters out, I will work harder at the piano...

I have a name and look for a new flute style instrument I'm thinking of inventing...it would have a high pitched squeaky oink oink sound and would be called a Swine Flute.

Any positive suggestions would be welcome, any negative ones would be ignored.. (c:P
