Re: “Just normal variations…”

I feel deeply for people struggling with gender identity issues. I'm sure that no one who isn't directly affected has any real idea what it must be like. The media hype has indeed turned the struggle into a circus and is not at all helpful to anyone, but that's the world we live in. So many are sure...

Re: jury duty

I wore this to jury duty in 2023 https://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/download/file.php?id=15562&mode=view I got called up as a potential on the case and had 2 interviews, but didn't make the final cut. I was very glad for that. that. Throughout the entire process, the only comments on my attire wer...

Re: Skirts..........Why Bother?

The reasons are as varied as the individuals who wear them are, and that's fine. It doesn't matter why a person chooses to wear what they do, whether it's to be fashionable, comfortable, rebellious, ridiculous, for health reasons, or whatever. A person should be allowed to wear pretty much whatever ...

Re: Son gives up skirts, daughter in combats and dress that became a pencil skirt

A chance to choose is all any of us can ask for, Barleymower, and you gave your children that. Maybe when your son gets a little older, and the pressure of being a teen, school, and all are gone, he'll be ready to step outside the box again, maybe not. I tried to encourage my children to be themselv...

Re: Experience in the Loo

I don't know what the men's room layout was, but in the past few years, I've noticed large, non-gendered restrooms in the US. Not a lot for sure. They have closed-door stalls, but the rest of the facility is open, and people of both sexes share the common area, and of course, children. I once went i...

Google replied:

"Yes, if dresses were readily available and normalized for boys, many parents would likely buy them, "
That two letter word cariies a lot of weight.

Re: Kilts with internal pockets

Internal pockets would be my preference; the big pouches many utility kilts have detract from the garment's look. Especially when crammed with stuff. Internal pockets probably won't hold as much as some would like, but that's okay with me, since I routinely carry a bag with my heavy phone and bulky ...

Re: Otole dance

I don't see any irony. African traditions have little ro do with today's African Americans for sure, but people who are only aware of the headlines and main stream media presentations of African Americans miss a lot about a very diverse culture that is no more monolithic than any other racial or eth...

Re: Only a matter of time...

I find it astonishing how many folks have written precisely that thought, "I don't understand what this is about." Contemplate what it feels like to be a part of the history that somebody else just re-wrote. Then you'll begin to "get it" As someone who wakes up daily to find out...

Re: Only a matter of time...

It's often said that time heals all wounds. I once may have believed that, but as I grow older and have witnessed the lasting scars of so many "healings", I'm more given to believe that many wounds will never be healed, and that's too bad. I have no clue what this is all about, but I do kn...

Re: Eliminating the waistline: avoiding an unflattering optical illusion in male skirts

I have worn dresses a few times and am inclined to wear them even more. Something mid-calf length, with no or minimal cinching at the waist, works really well for me. Something like this without the belt. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcRF0stSYMR_UOapFdYceYmRYwg7wgWWU_0qyeumx...

Every little bit of public exposure helps. Maybe just a little, but still good to see.
