Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Today - preparing to be trapped in trousers by circumstances for a couple of days - I started out in a dress (sleeveless orange Incerun button-through dress over a long-sleeved white top, sports socks and white trainers). I went shopping in town, planning to change before the cleaners arrived. But I...

Re: Non-Binary Models in Fashion

Non-binary models are modelling trousers for men and other people, and skirts for women and other people. They are therefore eroding the idea that you have to be of a particular gender to wear certain clothes. If you (or the fashion commentators) project an assumption of gendered clothing on to a mo...

Re: Trump was shot!

I'm always amazed by the American version of left/right. Sander would be considered centre-right here, and most of what Americans call "right" is basically off the scale. I tend to agree. Obama's policies were regarded here as those of a moderate conservative. The mindset that regards all...

Re: Sartorial police manual

One rule I saw in regards to trouser suits-it is a faux pas if the skin of your legs show, so you should wear longer socks. However...this rule doesn't apply if you are wearing a skirt. I recently saw a gentleman stylishly breaking that rule, wearing cropped trousers in a light tan colour with matc...

Re: Leggings

I had forgotten: when I was about 7 those leggings or slacks with a loop that goes under the foot seemed to me to be the coolest thing! I also coveted slip-on shoes without laces, and open-toed sandals instead of T-bars with closed toes (which I now prefer). And kilts, of course...

Re: Leggings

But leggings aren’t what we are about. They are just garments worn by women to make the look ugly. Mine aren't! (I wear them mainly for running, but they also offer a warm layer under a skirt.) I have a pair of mock-suspender tights which solve the access problem, but they are a devil to untangle b...

Re: Overly Flamboyant Outfits Detrimental to Mainstreaming MIS?

The point here is that one's sexuality should not enter the same equation as what that individual decides to adorn himself with. But of course, it does. Never mind the skirt=female thing, there are a number of men's clothing conventions which have historically been read as gay social signals, such ...

Re: Tatler

Genuine question, what can a male skirt-wearer (rather than transvestite) wear at a "black tie" do? I've been asked to attend one...Shirt/tie/black jacket, black skirt?? Deffo not wearing a kilt, kinds defeats the object in a way! The minimal move would be to wear a plain black kilt with ...

Re: Tatler

I'm tired of the attempted brainwashing and the incessant propaganda. Imagine how tired some other people are of decades and decades of attempted brainwashing and incessant propaganda about how only opposite-sex relationships are valid and everyone must fit neatly into traditional male and female b...

I rather like the third one, full length with a central pleat. The length gets around awkward sock-based decisions!

Re: denim skirts

One observation to note. I've noticed that masculinity is so fragile... You might see the same woman in a Disney princess t shirt and then the following day see her wearing a marvel avengers shirt. But you will never see a man wearing a Disney princess shirt. A woman could probably get away with we...

Re: Overly Flamboyant Outfits Detrimental to Mainstreaming MIS?

I don't think the mainstream women-in-trousers thing was markedly handicapped by the existence of a few radicals who went the whole way and dressed in men's suits. Did Marlene Dietrich in a tuxedo set back the cause of women's fashion? I think not! I'm simply too shy to wear anything really flamboya...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

Every single time you're "misclassified" onto the SD Spectrum (LGBTQWTF) you get slandered and insulted. I am not insulted or slandered unless someone assumes that I am something that I consider socially undesirable or inferior. Since I would not consider it demeaning to be thought gay, j...

Re: Red or Brown?

I once made a spiced plum ketchup that was very similar to a good tomato ketchup, and I'm sure making one's own tomato ketchup is not that tricky either, once you have got the seeds out neatly (unless you actually want to use high-fructose corn syrup!).

Not bad. They are also advertising a "unisex" linen look midi skirt in stone: rather a curious cut, but modelled by both sexes.
