Re: bike riding

My favorite is a skirt intended for women to put on over cycling shorts after dismounting, to enter a shop, restaurant, etc. I just wear it as a skirt. It has an off-center vent in front, which leaves a panel free to drop between my legs as I ride -- that one is perfectly modest. Do you have any mo...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

The Mrs and I walked on an Atlantic ocean beach in north-east Florida yesterday morning. She was wearing a dress and I was wearing a t-shirt and a brown Purple Rain hiking skirt. Everyone acted like it was totally normal: we chatted with people as we walked, everyone was friendly, a woman walking he...

Re: very short shorts

Ah yes, grew up in the mid-70s...our jeans when worn out would get cut off to be our shorts. Buying shorts? We didn't have the money for that. They were generally on the very short side but that was normal. The required gym class shorts were the same length for boys and girls, maybe 1" inseam. ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Monday morning I took my wife to a doctor's appointment and by chance we happened to both be wearing skirts. Mine was a rather ordinary black denim one from Duluth, a little above the knee. We have the same doctor and while she was in with him, I was in the waiting room and did go up to ask about a ...

How cool is that! I would have been beaming from ear to ear after an interaction like that.

Re: throwback sports jersey with skirt

I definitely want to find a longer hockey sweater (jersey) that I can wear as a sort of shirt dress. Being really tall makes it somewhat difficult. I hadn't considered a normal jersey + a short skirt as an alternative, but I'll have to give that a try.

Re: Warning: Completely Unmentionables.

Skirts can definitely be more practical for things like that. I'm having a medical issue now where it's uncomfortable to wear tighter fitting things around my groin and skirts are a blessing, while I await being able to have surgery. FWIW, I'm "at that age" where we start getting prostate ...

Re: PNW and So. Dakota: a comparison

I'm going to be spending a week RV camping through parts of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, and the FL Panhandle very soon and I really don't want to wear pants the whole damn time but I'm apprehensive. So I did my trip last week, and packed a hiking kilt and a few skirts, but I stuck t...

This is encouraging. I'm going to be spending a week RV camping through parts of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, and the FL Panhandle very soon and I really don't want to wear pants the whole damn time but I'm apprehensive.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

We had 300+ in a town of 7800 so that was nearly 4%. I was very tempted to skirt up, or at least kilt up, for it, but opted for shorts. There was plenty of hostility and accusations of mental illness directed at the gathering, I didn't want to give them something to focus on. And to add to the top l...

I cut the shorts out, it wouldn't let me quite wear it at the natural waist without. I'll have to dig out a photo and see if y'all think it's too short.

Re: Skirts that make you happy?

I like it but, for this older person, it's too short :( I get that, I'm 6'3", size 16 and on me it's about 2.5" above the knee, which is about where my shorts would be so I've been ok with it. My mail person (mail lady?) said I looked nice and cool today (we're in the middle of an early s...
