Who Shaves

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Who Shaves

As most of you wear hose, how many of you shave your legs? and what do your partners think of this?

I shave and my girlfirend is totally supportive whatever I wear of course being gender honest. In many different kinds of sport males also shave so it is not a big deal.

shaving

Post by JRMILLER »

I don't shave, I don't really mind the look of hairy legs beneath my skirt -- I mean, why should anyone care? I have tried hose and I don't like the panty hose because it's too tight at the top -- even the larger sizes! I feel too constrained. I have tried thigh highs and like the feel, but they don't stay up probably because of the hair on my thighs!

Thus, I have been using over the calf socks and/or knee highs and like these a lot. They are very warm and give good support, better than what I am used too in general. I told a friend about them recently and he called them "old man socks". Oh well, he will never know how good they feel will he?

No, I've let the hair on my legs grow again since I had them shaved 14 years ago to get my varicose veins stripped. I prefer to have a hairy face and hairy legs, all part of my image.

I bet he doesn't say old man's socks to all the women that wear over the knee socks. 8)

And you are right, he will probably never know how good they feel. That's his loss.

A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.

I've been shaving my legs for a few years now as I'm a road cyclist, but to be honest I like the feel of smooth legs, I also shave, chest, arm pits, bottom and keep my private parts clipped very short, but I don't shave my arms.

RichardA,
When you cyclist, do you mean bicyclist? If so what kind of cycling do you do: commute, race, tour?

I used to be an enthusiastic bicycle tourer and once spent a delightful two week holiday in England. Most of my touring was in Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts

Started to leg shave (many years ago) after a (racing) cyclist enthusiast told me why he did. It's a complete myth about going faster, of course, but in the event of coming off the bike, having no hair growth allows the wound to heal quicker and with less potential 'disfiguration', i.e., scarring. Tried one of those hair-remover creams which successfully permanently removed 90% of my leg hair 'south of the knee' and about 50% above. Even though my cycling days are sadly all but over, I've carried on shaving the rest, as I find it's more comfortable that way. So I don't regard it (shaving) as a fashion concept at all!

Shave, mainly for comfort on the legs. Also tends to keep the body odor down a bit. I don't wear PH or thigh-highs, so that's not the reason as to why I shave.

I think the main reason cyclists shave their legs is hair and lyric shorts do not go together and there is nothing worse than pubic hair sprouting out of your shorts some of you may not know that if you wear cycling shorts you wear nothing underneath  .
In a reply to Sapphire I mainly do cycle touring and long days out up to 60-80 miles I just like the simplicity of it all without having to depend on a car. :)

Your p---c hair reaches your knees? I don't think lycra was around when (serious) cyclists first started leg shaving, say, forty years back. I have tried to wear (modern) lycra 'cycling shorts', but certainly didn't notice the phenomenon you describe. They now reside at the bottom of a drawer as I found them too uncomfortable (like wearing a nappy?) and, on an aging body, too embarrassing (even 'after dark'!), to wear in public!

I don't care what people say to me when I'm out in my full lyric gear even to the supermarkets, but I'm a wimp when it come to wearing a skirt outside in the day time I have to get over this small problem.
I was asked by a little girl once "why are you wearing ballerina tights for" I just looked at her mother and smiled :)

I shave. I started in 1998 when I cycled a reasonable bit (any excuse!)

Cycling shorts are fabulous! No chafing. I've worn cycling tights since...oh, 1987. No issues; no hangups. They keep me warm.

My (just ex-) wife was pretty neutral about the shaving thing. Wearing hosiery? She was okay for a long while but the jackboot of conformity stamped her down and her attitude changed.

...which is one of the (lesser) reasons why she is not my wife any more (still a friend though!)
