Any information about this dress code protest?

Any information about this dress code protest?

Post by geegee »

I just caught the end of a news item on the radio in the UK about some air traffic controllers (I think it was in America ) who were wearing skirts, dresses and kilts to work in protest about a new dress code prohibiting jeans or shorts.
I would be interested in finding out more about this. I expect the dress code only applied to male employees - no one would dare to tell women what they can and cannot wear these days, surely!

I spotted it on a US website. It relates to male air traffic controllers having restrictions on their clothing greater than those female have to comply with. Some of the men simply wore kilts but others wore tailored dresses with open-neck or polo shirts underneath and high-heels because these do comply with the dress code.

Joe

There are many ways to get from A to B. It's not the destination, it's the journey that counts.

Good for them! Just shows how daft such regulations usually are.

Exactly! They should be able to wear whatever makes them comfortable in such a high stress environment, and in doing so could attract more to apply for the job. Not sure high-heels would qualify, though...If they need to be in the public eye for some reason, let them bring "appropriate attire" to change in to.
