My Introduction
I've been following this forum for a few months as I worked out how I really felt about Men In Skirts. I'm sure I came here for a different reason than most of you. I've been a nudist all my life. All during my working years, I hated to put on pants/trouser's to go home after a weekend at the nudist camp.
I like to hike nude in out of the way places, but sometimes, those places aren't as alone as I thought. When someone unexpectedly shows up on the trail, it can be a problem if they get freaked out. I've tried different shorts, but slipping them on quickly is tough.
I found the Skirt Cafe after joining a egroup for naturist hikers. They were discussing that problem. Some suggested they had used a skirt or a saroong wrap around. Tom's Cafe and The Skirt Cafe was mentioned in a couple notes, so off I went to see what that was about.
As they say, the rest is history. I've been lurking here for a few months as I picked up ideas and got my nerve up to try skirts with friends and family. Since I have a little Scottish history in the family tree, I felt good to go for a kilt first. Found a nice one on Ebay and had my first public appearance in a buffet restaurant. Some ladies did stop me and ask the usual questions, and the guys pretty much ignored me with careful looks. It was fun! Later, I was MC at a radio gathering and tried it, on stage, as it were. Another fun time with lots of questions from both sexes. I used many of your stock answers with great success.
While working up to this, my wife and I had been combing the racks at thrift shops in many towns and I have a few skirts that fit good, I think look good and are very comfortable. The famous denim skirt deal is sure right on. I got one with the same pockets I had with shorts. I ventured into grocery stores, Kmarts and other local stores, post office and a few more restaurants. I even tried a more 'normal' brown skirt with a fanny pack on the front. I got more looks and a couple of nice compliments, and no problems.
I did get a couple long skirts for around the house in the cool of the evening or morning, but all the others either came above the knee or I have cut off a little above the knee. Some higher for more comfort and my hiking.
So now there is one more man introducing the people to men in skirts. Thanks for the help.
Tom

Welcome Tom!
But yes, a kilt or denim skirt or even a sarong would be a far quicker way opf preserving your modesty than trying hurriedly to pull on a pair of shorts.

Yup! I'd get pretty freaked out if I were walking along and some bloke was approaching me starkers. If my wife or kids were with me, I'd go bonkers!I like to hike nude in out of the way places, but sometimes, those places aren't as alone as I thought. Hi Tom and welcome to the Cafe.
I suspect that you are right about your route into skirts being different to the majority here but that makes you no less welcome.
Have fun,
Ian.

Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

opposites
I'm just the opposite of you, Tom. I am usually nude around the house and wear nothing but a skirt on my lower half in public. I have one pair of cut-off shorts and one pair of long dungarees for jury duty if required, but go everywhere and do everything wearing a skirt. I am 1/7th Scot but dislike the feel and openness of kilts so don't ever wear them. I have several straight skirts made of cotton with the Fraser clan tartan to give homage to my Scottish 7th, but other than that, no pleats or gores in anything I wear. I, because of this site and the site that this one sort of took over when the former server boss decided to quit and the original site maker died or cancer, have come "out of the closet" completely when it comes to skirt wearing. I started wearing wrap around sarongs in 1972 in a documentary movie I was in that was filmed in the Central Pacific Islands where nearly all the native men wore them and it was as normal as a suit on Wall Street.
I wore nothing but skirts on my trip last summer to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and it was as if I was back in Majuro. No one openly noticed or seemed to care. I think that was when I really realized that a man wearing a skirt in a masculine way was becoming as "run of the mill" as a woman wearing trousers in a feminine way had already become.
Anyway, WELCOME!! Enjoy our little site and comment on anything that suits your fancy.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Your forests must be safer than ours in Australia.
You wouldn't dare hike nude here. Too many spiders, snakes, leeches and other things that bite, sting and generally make life unpleasant. As much as love freedom its usually a wrap skirt (if going on a well defined trail) or long pants and boots if really going for a bush hike.

South Pacific Insects
When I was in Australia I kept well covered; as soon as I got out of the car I was buzzed like crazy. I wore a sarong in the South Pacific and my legs ended up covered in bites - the insects there just seem to laugh at mosquito bands.
