What did *you* wear "out and about" today?

Post by crfriend »

As a quiet attempt to quell the notion of "what did you wear in the closet today" (or, "what are you wearing while you post"), I'll toss this one out to see what responses it garners.

Me? Out and about today I sported a pale yellow dress shirt, a scarlet vest, cream tights (go ahead and sneer), and a calf-length silk burgundy skirt. The skirt is a "full" design, which means there's a lot of fabric involved and, given this one's fabric, moves like a dream. I've used the ensemble before, and it looks great. Interestingly, I got no responses either positive or negative; is skirt wearing by males becoming unremarkable?

By the by, I think that Skip's (since1987) experience the other night at bingo was stellar -- his community rallied 'round him, showed support, and offerred the "transgressors" the door. This is the way things should be!

I took 3 lady friends out to the new IKEA store in Stoughton, MA shopping today.

They all wore jeans while I wore a rust color plaid mini-kilt (from the Gap) matching sweater (from Geoffrey Bean) off white turtleneck from LL Bean, black patent leather Mary Jane's (from Muffys.com) off white knee socks and a black beret.

They treated me to lunch at Smokey Bones and then we hit the Wrentham Village Premium Outlet Mall on the way home.

We had so much fun that I forgot to take some photos even though I had brought my camera just for that purpose!

I wore baggy pants with elastics around the ankles, a T-shirt, green knee-socks, sandals, and my parka jacket. Yea, yea, very boring. Underneath I wore white tights and white leotard --- not a fetish, but this was after dance class, and I had no opportunity to change.

Most of the day, I was working too hard to care what I was wearing.

... my new favorite dress!

Post by ElBuitre »

Well, not actually today's outfit but I wore this new rockabilly-style dress quite often the last days:

Image

I bought it a week ago (I'm the "king of thrift store bargains"; it was only $3 :-)) and it comes out as one of my favorites -- having pockets and a very comfortable cut & fabric, plus sporting some sort of retro-stlye I like... and I get lots of positive comments on it from women! Now with crfriend pulling the topic back onto the table, I just had to convince my flatmate to shoot a picture right now...

Hmmm, what'd I wear on a windy day like today...

Post by Kilted_John »

Black T-shirt, black survival Utilikilt with a black pleated skirt and a black satin slip on underneath, charcoal gray cashmere knee socks with beige sheer trouser sox underneath those, and Asolo hiking boots. For the most part, the UK didn't blow up, except when I was trying to take down a picnic umbrella in the middle of the windstorm this morning. It didn't get very high, though. Had gusts up to 60 mph today.

Well, I've been thinking about wearing all the fun things I wore as a youth lately and today after an uneventful American Legion Bingo in my gray linen mid calf straight skirt with red nylon slip, my "Hey Pardner" cowboy boots, and long sleeve gray T shirt I came home, went to ebay, typed "petticoats" in the search line and up came about 35 of them for sale. I bid on 2 in one sale that the starting bid was $ .99 for both and put a top bid of $10.00 in, checked it a few minutes ago and welllllll I won them both for a total of $1.99....NOW to see if I have the courage to actually wear one...hmmm After all that's been said on here lately, about anything we wear is a mans garment if a man is wearing it and several other members who already wear petticoats I thought I'd give it a try, of course I don't have any skirts that look good with one so I guess I'll have to sew a new full skirt and see what happens. I don't know if I can build the courage to wear one to Bingo...maybe in a year or two...LOL~pray~

This morning I was wearing a knee-length denim skirt, black tights, tee and sneakers. Now I'm wearing a black UK.

What I wore out today: Grey sweater and tan utilikilt mocker - all day shopping with my wife - only one question from a woman "what's up the kilt?" had a pleasant conversation explaining why I was wearing it. I wear skirts/kilts about 2x a week.

Last night I went American square dancing in the local village hall. I wore a corduroy Unoin kilt, knee-high socks and a tee shirt. The dancing was fast and boy did I get hot! I can't imagine how hot the other men must have been in their trousers.

Today I'm wearing a mid-calf denim skirt which is one of my wife's cast-offs - she's lost a lot of weight and is very smug that I can wear her old clothes which are too big for her!

Lately I have been in skirts all the time except the other night when the temp went way down in the 40's and I wore long jeans. Today my daughters came over to help sort out their mothers belongings and keep what they wanted. They have come to not even notice me in skirts. This week I have been working around the house with many trips to Walmart and Lowe's for supplies. No comment either way about the skirts. I havemany trips into the home improvement stores durinng the week day with all the contractore in buying stuff. Today I am wearing my skirt in my avatar with a button up kaki shirt. I love this skirt but it is now kind of faded and worn looking but real comfy. One of my daughters hand me downs a couple years ago.

This evening, had to run to the store for some food. Normally, I'd throw on a kilt or a Utilikilt, but it was a little warmer than usual today, and my black Survival was in the wash. So, layered a couple knee-length black skirts, added a pair of black trouser sox, running shoes, and a black T-shirt. No one noticed or cared. Most people around here are used to seeing me in one of my kilts or Utilikilts, so, they probably thought I was wearing one of those.

Sometimes when I wear just a plain denim skirt people will ask if it one of those "utility kilts."

I think it's safe to say that the Seattle area is truly male+skirt friendly. Especially since people think we're just wearing UK's even if we aren't. If you ever decide to venture out toward Duvall and Carnation, it's still a safe area for skirting, even if it's rural and somewhat rednecky.
