Gee, that wasn't political now was it?
One thing that wasn't mentioned, where tartan came from, in any sense of the word.
Steve.

Going forward there will be fewer pennies to pinch.

I may just have to drive up to Rocky's place in the Spring and order a casual kilt in that Tartan. I like the look and the story.

It's a nice tartan. I do already have a kilt in a USA tartan that I got specifically to wear for Independence day and political protests, so I guess I'm covered.

A tartan commemorating the past?

It's attempting to recall a fantasy past that never existed in the version that's portrayed for the "little people" to believe -- and since nobody here actually reads history and bothers to scratch the surface they believe unquestioningly and the cycle perpetuates itself.
In the middle of all the other mess that we're dealing with at the moment, I was reflecting back on my involvement with technology over the decades and came to the rather disappointing conclusion that mine was a life and a career utterly wasted. In thinking about the wonderful communications capability we have at our disposal, and all the wonderful computers to drive it all, I looked around the room and commented on what we have for it. Sports betting, everywhere, the "Lotto", professional sports in general. more gambling, talking heads in green rooms talking about sports and gambling, fourth-rate cop shows..."Fux Noise". All that work, time, blood, sweat, tears... absolutely wasted without a lick of good having been done. And all of it circling the hole in the middle down which goes the remains of yesterday's lunch.
All because of the idiots, morons, and simpletons that refuse to open a book and actually read about how it all unfolded -- and why it's all repeating itself again ... and again ... and again. Ad nauseum. I've seen enough. I'm ready to go.

USAKilts is an American company
https://www.usakilts.com which appears to weave tartan, design tartan and sell anything to do with Celtic traditions. They have a YouTube channel
https://www.youtube.com/@USAKiltsOfficial/featured which has some interesting videos on kilts and tartans.
So if you dig into
https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/index, you will find that some of the tartans that they have designed are there and official such as the "Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial"
https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tarta ... s?ref=5506 but as of now I can not find "America 250" in the register
https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/qresu ... ica&Page=1
Now to be clear, you can design any tartan you like, weave it, make it into kilts and sell them to the public and you do not have to register it, especially since the beginning of this year the cost of doing so has risen from £70 to £150. The "America 250" tartan is a nice tartan, but it is not from what I can work out "official" in any way, so

NO, this is just a company advertising video to get you to buy their new tartan that they have just designed. So this is just commercial business.

Just watched this video about the America 250 Tartan.
This is full of history and inspiration. I'll be pinching my pennies to get one
The new tartan is very nice and if you like it you should go ahead and get a kilt in it. The same company is also offering a whole wardrobe to go with your new kilt
https://youtube.com/shorts/ItsSQSheQvM? ... 9HbqhXBlR6 including pins and sporran.

The whole company thing is
Our mission is to educate and guide our customers, helping them to honor and represent their Celtic heritage properly and proudly.
and if you watch some of their other videos they do talk about the Scotch and Irish history of what ever they are selling. I have followed their channel for some time and some of their videos did talk about registering tartans or not
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7_9hQRp2NY or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHKW1_fmt00 The whole channel is interesting to dip into, but you have to remember that the aim of the channel is to sell the services to you.
So as usual, Susie saw it for what it was
Just a commercial selling video, which appears to be working.
