Develolping fondess

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Develolping fondess

Post by Uncle Al »

I've developed a fondness for, of all things, dresses.
The kind that is comfortable, flowing and giving freedom beyond comprehension :D
I have a few of these, which I wish I had found earlier. The neckline is way more comfortable than the ones
from Walmart. These are from Amazon.com, not overly expensive at around $18.00+/-

I 'normally' prefer solid colors, but, this one hit me hard - in a good way :D

and this one in blue and white

Pictures are Amazon links.

All have very nice pockets which fit my large hands :D
I just wish they were about 2 - 4 inches longer for my 6' 2" frame but they work
great for casual wear around the house, AND coolness when mowing the yard :D

Since January 2024 until now, I've lost 80lbs. That means I've gone from a 2X/3X
down to an XL, and maybe down to an L in size. My khaki linen skirt (3X) MUST
be worn with a belt because if I slightly suck in my tummy, it hits the floor

Yes T-shirt dresses or tunics work well. I also prefer solid colours but the geometric pattern is cheerful.

those are fine,, Ive used them as pajamas and even been out a few times in shirt dresses, arguably the least "girly'"' option if you like, and nearly identical to the olde mens nightshirts.

Men used to wear things like that all the time, if you go back far enough everyone was in simple dresses like that.

Actually, it seems to me that dresses actually work better on the male figure than a separate top and skirt. Eliminating the horizontal separation line at the waist helps get rid of the common 'dumpy' look caused by men having more mass in their torsos than women.

Al,
Why do men feel the need to complicate matters?
Everyone's tastes change with age and experience, I know that mine has and dramatically too!
There is still a spirit of adventure in trying new styles, garments and looks all good and no need to justify or explain to anyone.
If the XXXXXXX fits, and makes you happy wear it!
Life is too damn short and uncertain to pass up a new experience and have fun at the same time.
Steve.

All I wear these days are dresses. The last time I wore trousers was to my mother's funeral 2024 late September.
Some lady in my church approached me to tell be of a dress sale at Walmart. I said I didn't need any more dresses since I have more than 40 of them. She told me she had only 4 dresses.
And yes. dresses do simply things and they are SO comfortable. I wonder why more people don't wear them,

Wow, that is great; averaged about the perfect steady state for weight loss over 18 months -- a true test of discipline, and it must feel wonderful, despite some of the trying times you were facing too. Anyway, congratulations and thanks for more inspiration to most of us!

I like the notion of dresses, you can't get much simpler than a one piece outfit; and undoubtedly with ample potential for comfort, especially since most chaps are not showing off their curves! My few attempts mostly fell flat -- awkward to get on; shoulders/chest dimensions and shape did not match the garment; and yes, the neck lines tend to look 'strange' given what has likely been decades of a different 'normal' to overcome. I've a Hawaiian friend who has great style sense (has owned a dress shop) that I'm hoping is going to glom onto something that would work for me -- then we get to test new waters!
