Another reason I dislike denim!

Post by Freedomforall »

I have never cared for denim, especially jeans. This article reveals a jaded past that has been whitewashed by our history. I am shocked! I can't imagine this ever happening. Yes, I definitely can.

I'm not a fan of denim either.
I wore denim jeans for work most of my life.
The last few years I quit wearing pants unless absolutely necessary and then I try and avoid denim if possible.

I don't mind hard wearing materials for hard worn mini skirts. There are many blends and other colours called denim but are not actually the traditional material.

G'day all... I don't mind denim actually ..I own about five pairs of good dress jeans and two or three cheaper brands for work to alternate from the usual cotton drill work trousers I need to mostly wear ..In shorts I only have one denim pair and they are tatty and frayed around the pockets and legs and are only knock about ones when fishing etc..I wear shorts a lot especially now as summer hits but wear mostly cotton or those like Nike sports shorts ..they must have pockets and will never wear those ridiculous near ankle length things .They look stupid ..

Forgive me but do they make denim kilts at all ? If they do I've never taken any notice . I also must admit with denim mini skirts for the ladies particularly ..I do take notice when they have one on that suits them . Not least the washed denim type . Can be very classy when done right ..

Doing a Google search, denim kilts are available from several sources.
I've seen them on Amazon, as well as other companies who make kilts.
Prices range from $50.00 up to $150.00 USD.

I bought a denim kilt once, but it is very heavy and I never wear it because of that.......Like an 8-yarder.

I deliberately stopped wearing blue jeans when I was about 16, because it seemed to be the uniform of a popular culture that I didn't feel a part of. Since then I have often worn black or red denim jeans, and a pale blue denim kilt which was the nearest I got to a skirt before I finally decided to bin the "Rule" book; but never blue jeans.
I saw a guy in a smart blue denim jacket the other day, and was tempted to break the British male code by catching up with him and asking where he got it.

My first public kilt was a denim Utilikilt which I love, but it is a little tight on me at the moment, so I don't wear it often. I have however just bought a new blue denim skirt from Roman original fashions.

I am with MB on the subject of blue jeans, preferring black denim for most of my working life.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

Merry Christmas to you Uncle Al and all Skirtcafe'ers ..Unusually cold here in Tasmania on Christmas morning ..Re denim kilts ..I can't believe I missed that denim kilts exist !!!!!!!!! They certainly do as you alluded to correctly ... Just had a browse on EBAY and surprised me. See most come from Pakistan and lots from the USA too... Some on the face of it look quite nice and not ridiculously priced .. Noticing many have the tartan look insert . Have been reading lately about them in some utility kilts that they are hard to maintain , not least ironing the pleats etc.. Not sure if I'll ever get a denim one given I've recently added a second leather one...(so much fun to have} but with me , you'd never know...Thanks for the heads up on denim ....Cheers...

At church I see a large number of people, including women, wearing jeans and sneakers. I rebel against such casual attire, so I wear dresses, and frequently, heels. Very few women wear heels these days.

G'day Faldaguy... Ha ha.. Usually by now we're getting mostly 25-28 Celcius with the occasional 30 plus day but it ain't happening yet.. The odd day but it's only mostly 18-22 at the moment . Most of the rest of the country is baking except us in Tassie .Everyone is talking about it .. It'll change of course EVENTUALLY... The mornings especially are unusually cold .. Went surf fishing at 5 am yesterday and we were rugged up like autumn and when we hit the beach all we could see was floating kelp after the winds overnight ,,Should have known better I guess... The salmon and trevally were safe ... All this tragic stuff to deal with but I'm "bravely" facing the world with the occasional kilt time to see me through,,,I'm a trooper !!!!!!!!!!
Tasmania is the butt of all the 'cold' jokes by the rest of the great unwashed but our summers are genuinely really pleasant and not unbearably hot ,,Normally ... except for the occasional day that we will see very high 30's C or even 40 C when the Northerlies dominate..but if you get the southerly or south easterly systems hitting you understand why Hobart , the capital city is the gateway port to Antarctica ...cheers all..

While denim has been worn and used in some pretty nasty ways by some pretty nasty people, it's not the fault of the fabric itself. I like denim, blue jeans and all.
