I was thinking the same thing, but didn't know how to phrase it. As a hater of socks, one thing I have loved about wearing skirts, is the wide range of hosiery and interesting footwear which is made to work below a skirt.

Whilst not a hater of socks, I completely understand the panoply of footwear and hosiery worn with skirts. It's been a source of amusement and fascination since I started this amazing journey. Thus I understand Stevie's comment of, "These shoes will do" which provoked a pointed comment from Susie.

Guys have no concept on the topic for the most part. For guys it's either plain old "clod-hoppers" or cowboy boots (if one want to channel the very unfortunate "urban cowboy" chic).

Hilariously, I was wearing "hosiery" long before I started wearing skirts. I quite vividly recall one brutal winter morning when a bunch of us were standing out on the platform of the local railway station waiting for our train to arrive, the guys -- to a one -- were turned, yak-like, with our backsides to the wind when the women didn't seem to mind all that much. At the time, I was warmly accepted into a little clique of women commuters and, once I warmed up enough for my mind to work poperly, asked why so few of them were cold and shivering. The reward was from one who simply commented, "pantyhose". I asked my late ex- about that concept and got it verified, I was warm for most of the rest of the winter,

Back in 1979-80, I was working for a very small airline, at a very small facility.
One of the 'kids' mentioned that when he played football in high school, to keep
warm on the field, the players wore pantyhose under their uniforms. I then tried
than when I had to go on the ramp for loading/unloading the aircraft.
It worked

The pantyhose allows a layer of air to get between the uniform and the skin.
As air is a great insulator, the pantyhose allowed my legs to keep warm in +/- 10°F
temperatures with the wind chill around -10°F.

If it works, why not use the product to keep warm in icy-cold weather
