And another master -- Greg Lake
The world lost another masterful musician this week who will be sorely missed. Greg Lake, composer extraordinare and guitarist for Emerson, Lake, and Palmer passed away on 2016-12-07 following a losing bout with cancer. Many of his works will be remembered, but by far my favourites are Lucky Man and I Believe in Father Christmas with its wonderful riff on Prokofiev. Years later he was to reprise Father Christmas and did so gently and eloquently.
Just in bloody time for Christmas.
Take your place with the greats, sir; perhaps you'll be able to swap notes and ideas. 'Tis a pity those of us here will never now hear the results.

That's sad indeed, Let's not forget "From the Beginning" and "Still You Turn Me On".

Perhaps their best album was Brain Salad Surgery. But yes a sad day today as another great joins the great musical in the sky.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

When I was a teenager I absolutely worshipped Emerson, Lake & Palmer. I finally got to see them live at their last ever concert in 2010 in London's Victoria Park. They were a bit creaky and under-rehearsed and Keith Emerson's arthritis was clearly giving him problems but it was fantastic just to be there. Greg Lake's voice was tailor-made for filling stadiums and that, along with his phenomenal and vastly underrated bass playing, made it well worth waiting 40 years to see them live. The entire concert is on YouTube.
ELP's Works Volume 1 contains some of Greg's best songs. Songs that, sadly, hardly anyone gets to hear these days. I hope he gets remembered for more than just a Christmas song, even if it is a damn good one!
