Ordered a new skirt

Post by Tackleberry »

I know it's a long time no post but...
I'm slowly plucking the courage back up to go wearing a skirt (in daylight again) but as I've got a new job driving buses in Oxford and they put all new starters on lates/nights it's kinda hard...
Anyway browsing eBay for skirts as you do do and one skirt caught my eye which is a 39" maxi denim in black (the blue which I would've liked was sold out), can't wait for it to arrive though 8)
Not sure how long a 39" skirt is mind...
I've been finishing about the time the early joggers and dog walkers would be around (03:00/04:00ish) and have been walking the local park in various skirts to match the company uniform - mainly black or navy blue...
I've got 2 days off on Tuesday and Wednesday so I'll be trying to get the courage to go for a long walk along the local river path in a black pencil skirt that comes just below the knee...
Not even sure why I lost the confidence in the first place...

I happpen to be wearing a 39" maxi tiered denim skirt in black that I bought on Amazon. It ends right at my feet, which is perfect for me. :D :D :D

I only wear utility kilts out and about in the world, but I thought I would buy a few proper skirts to wear around the house when I am relaxing and I am so glad I did. This one is really comfortable! I am sure you will be happy with yours. Very cool!

Interesting that after wearing kilts regularly for years, I only bought my first skirt for myself this past week, and apparently you also just rather suddenly got fired up to get a new skirt. I doubt it means anything, but coincidences are always a curiousity to me.

Can't you try one for work? Surely under diversity laws you could just wear a black knee length pencil with black tights while on lates... customers just want to get home, they don't care what you wear 8) Ask your employer, under LGBT laws it should be fine

I get flashes of lack of confidence, though it's not about skirt wearing per see, more of lack of confidence in a particular style or look. Those days I sometimes just don a proven winner and think about the new look for a few more days. When you wore them before, did you get any significant bad reactions?

I had a conversation with a girl a few days ago, and I mentioned that it had taken me a fair bit of courage to wear one at work for the first time, but I had been surprised how little comment it generated. She had the opinion that it was because I just behaved as if it was nothing special. Fake it till you make it.

Exactly. If you behave like a creep, people will think you're a creep. And vice versa.

And I love the expression, "Fake it till you make it." I'll have to remember that one. It's right up there with, "Sincerity is the key. If you can fake that, you've got it made."
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Skirts are indeed on the women's order form but I've not seen a woman wearing a skirt in the company...
That said though I'm tempted to wear my favourite black just below to the knee skirt as I wear tights (80 denier) under my trousers - the night buses nobody would notice anyway probably

Enjoy your new 39 inch skirt when it comes in, that would probably be way too long on me. You are talking to a man who's trousers 30 inch inseam is still a little long.
I'm bidding on two 23 inch long skirts, I should know by Wednesday If I won them :)
Skirts are becoming a very fun addiction for me.

Again enjoy your newest skirt :)

"Always be sincere, whether you mean it or not."

That wording comes from The Reluctant Cannibal, by Flanders and Swann.

Tor,

You're either much too young or much too intellectual.

My guess is that Caultron's in the same age bracket as me so we both know it's a George Burns joke.

Or both. I've been known to spend inordinate amounts of time before I got some jokes, and others I recognize but interpret so literally that I end up kind of just shrugging my shoulders. Though in this case you'd have been younger than I am now (by a good margin to boot!) when F&S were an active duo. :)

By the way, while I don't know the GB version, I suspect the F&S version is a very similar joke in much the same vein but a different context. I don't have time to hunt up the GB version right now, but perhaps someone here knows both.

I'm 23 for the third time now, and I surely remember George Burns, but I don't remember his connection to any specific jokes.

I remember George Burns saying that on a video, so maybe it was very late in his career.
