A recent visit to a law office, elicited this from the lady lawyer :
"I do admire your skirts, so elegant. I wish I could wear skirts too, but my legs look awful (swellings and veins)."

From some acquaintances :
"Don't you ever wear trousers?"
No.
"What about pyjamas?"
No. I unbifurcated my pyjama shorts.
"But you could not ride a horse like that, could you?"
Why not? I ride my bicycle like this. Haven't had the opportunity of riding a horse recently, but in ancient times, I'm sure thy were quite happy riding in skirts.

A lady friend :
"I don't know what I'd do if I could not wear trousers."

I can't count the number of times I have met new people that say they'd often seen me riding around town. I doubt if they would have remembered me if I had been in jeans or shorts.

There are drawbacks in being so visible; I am not criminally inclined, but I do have to be very careful not to go too far against traffic rules.

I have a photo from our local Highland Renaissance Fair where the MC of the jousting event is on horseback, kilted. I would think the only moments of uncertainty would be the mount and dismount. One guy sort of flung his off-leg over the top and 'sprang' from his horse, sticking the landing and showing nothing but kilt. It can probably be done, with more or less panache, given practice. :D
