For the scientific wing of SC, hope you find this article interesting.

I saw this, there is some doubt about whether the EmDrive actually works, this discovery was when they were trying to prove/disprove various theories as to why it might work. I find it interesting that the patterns they are seeing match very closely the expected ones for Warp bubbles.

5 year missions anyone? You could get to wear a skant as part of the uniform?

I don't think I will be around in the 24th Century to be "allowed" to wear one! (When's the next Star Trek Convention?)

I was always intrigued by the male "dress uniforms" on Star Trek, but never impressed by the style. I wish they'd done more work on that.

Interesting, of course, is that no one knows what (if anything) people in the 24th century will be wearing. So in theory, almost anything goes. But even so, most Sci-Fi clothing is pretty well grounded in styles from today.

I suppose it would turn away business if the characters were too unlike the audiences of today.

I didn't know that. What I had heard about her is that the writer originally wanted a black woman as second in command, but the TV network wouldn't allow it. So he put her in charge of communacting with the aliens, still a pivotal position. Then he occasionally left her in charge when Kirk, Spock et al went down to a planet. Doing his bit for racial and sexual equality.
Keep on skirting,
