I read the Atlantic Magazine's site frequently and this story on the 5.11Tactical kilt from last year was posted today.

I own two and yes, they are nice. Not many pleats but four large pockets and made of tough, durable, rip-start nylon. I wear them for hiking and plan to order a couple more once they become available (which is usually in April). The price isn't bad either, at $89.99.

They look very practical and hard wearing.
Unfortunately no mention of kilt on their Australian website.
