What a find
Found woven light weight wool, Black Watch tartan I think, enough for two kilts, for $3 at a used store, also real linen for lining if I go with it. There's just enough length to do the less-pleated design I've been looking forward to.
Hope to be posting a pic soon.
The design I am going for is a standard apron in the front with several pleat folds from hips around, but not many just enough to imply pleating, and not ironed. Knee length.
I'm trying to reflect a great kilt skirt portion in small kilt form, like seen in Rob Roy/Braveheart, but folds less deep, more of an implication.
Ripped the material right down the middle, something like 68" wide, a wonderful selvedge on either side. Now to the pinning, next to the sewing.
