Going commando - some alternative views
Occasionally members here mention going commando. I didn't realise it was much of an issue for women as well, until I read this. It is in a section called "Am I being unreasonable", which has to be read as part of the thread's title for it to make sense.

Commando in jeans? No thanks! Presumably it's different for women. Read and enjoy! And if you persevere (it is a very long thread) you may learn a few things. I certainly did!

Personally, I cannot fathom how uncomfortable denim would be bearing directly on "the boys". My brain screeches at the very thought. Then there's the ****ing zipper....

Abrasion really isn't a problem, and you have to negotiate through the zipper anyway.

Re: Going commando - some alternative views
I very rarely use underwear these days, I haven't found jeans or trousers to be abrasive, it does feel slightly different, but not uncomfortable. When I do wear underwear now it feels uncomfortably constricting now that I am used to not having things supported. As for hygeine, not a problem, I have a bidet and I'm not afraid to use it!crfriend wrote:The mind boggles.skirtyscot wrote:[... In a skirt, certainly enjoy all the air there is, but in trousers? Sounds ridiculous to me.
I am often knickered, except at home or just out for a walk, but on the cycle , always!

As the last current entry said,
which says it all an highlights the female physiognomy at the gusset level. Can't see that doing without a VPL outweighs the discomfort but then I'm a mere male with a different set of priorities. With trousers/jeans I always wear knickers for hygiene. Come to think of it I always wear knickers with skirts for the same reason.I have too much discharge down there < too much information >

Re: Going commando - some alternative views
I can't remember the last time I wore underwear with any garment. Here in the desert heat, the last thing I need is an extra layer of fabric. As for the comfort factor with denim jeans, sure, they can be a bit rough if brand new and stiff, but a few trips through the wash will soften them up, and, of course, with enough wear they can become soft and comfy as a blanket. OTOH, I can count on one hand the number of times a year I wear long trousers of any kind, let alone jeans, anymore - and that's usually on the few truly cold winter days.crfriend wrote:The mind boggles.skirtyscot wrote:[... At the peril of repeating my bias, I find the idea of a dude's junk rubbing on the fabric of his outer garment revulsively unsanitary and certainly would not care to sit at a dining table or in a plane seat next to one. If I can wear undies in the humidity of the South without complaint, I can't really buy the complaint of dry desert heat being a plausible excuse. If you won't wear it for yourself, do it for the innocent bystanders!
As a matter of fact, the sun DOES shine out of my ...

Three questions come to mind:dillon wrote:At the peril of repeating my bias, I find the idea of a dude's junk rubbing on the fabric of his outer garment revulsively unsanitary and certainly would not care to sit at a dining table or in a plane seat next to one. A: Why do you care -- especially if you can't even see it?
and perhaps more importantly...
B: How would you even know what (if anything) anyone, of any gender, is wearing under any garment, unless you asked and/or they volunteered? I'm assuming you don't go around lifting skirts to check for yourself.
and then there's the proverbial elephant in the room...
C: Homophobic much?

Re: Going commando - some alternative views
I nearly said it was obscene, but then I remembered that it is thought OK for women to display the shape of their female body parts. By OK I mean acceptable, even if not always a good look (e.g. camel toe). Shape of breasts on display? That's completely normal, often encouraged. So why shouldn't a man let the world see the size of his genitals, if he can stand the discomfort?
