Skirt length - my experience
Skirt length - my experience
It has been several years since I started wearing skirts, and I started by wearing just above the knee to 3" above the knee. Now I prefer that the skirt covers the knee. I have learned to love longer skirts, like 5 to 6inches below the knee.

Personally I prefer mini skirts 12 to about 14 inch in length like my short shorts.

Re: Skirt length - my experience
I would feel naked in a skirt as short as that! My shortest is 16" and it feels short (but good on a nice hot day, not that we get many of them round here). Longest is 39". Most are 19" - 24" or 37" - 39". In between doesn't seem to work for me.
Keep on skirting,
Alastair

The shorter the skirt, the heavier the material needs to be if you want to avoid creating the wrong sort of impression.
There is no such thing as a normal person, only someone you don't know very well yet.

Lower thigh to mid-kneecap here. With a pleated skirt that's top of kneecap or mid-kneecap length, it looks pretty much kilt-like to most people in the street.

Knee length is absolutely the shortest I'll wear.
I prefer at least mid-calf length, and have several lower calf, ankle, and even floor length.
The longer the better - the fuller the better!

Re: Skirt length - my experience
I think the longer the skirt the more obvious its a skirt, the shorter it is the more it looks like shorts. Just my option.
Re: Skirt length - my experience
When it comes to skirt length, I'm all over the board, wearing everything from 15 inch minis to 40 inch maxis. But, with spring finally having arrived, I won't wear anything below my knees. At the risk of sounding egotistical, I think I have a great pair of legs and I love to show them off in a short skirt.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.

My personal preference is anything from the knee to the ground. I am not comfortable in anything above the knee.

if the look is secondary, you can wear the Macabi Skirt in short configuration with just the wade snaps attached. Long skirts are for convenience of unexperienced guys and those with big cochones.

Re: Skirt length - my experience
I have all different lengths from minis to floor length. You have to experiment to find the best length for your self. I'm most comfortable in kilt length skirts (24 inches) but I also like my floor length skirts.
Re: Skirt length - my experience
for the time being ill stick to knee length area skirts...I just think a "mini"type skirt on a male is looking to expose his private parts that might hang down. just my opinion on the subject...

I'm pretty sure that guys wearing skirts less than 16 inch would wear underwear, especially out in public,Hemitom wrote: I just think a "mini"type skirt on a male is looking to expose his private parts that might hang down.
I know, I do.

Re: Skirt length - my experience
Personally, I'm firmly in the below the knee camp, mostly mid-calf and thence downwards right to the deck -- and the fuller, for the most part, the better.
I have a couple of maxis that are floor-sweepers, and whilst they look -- and feel -- positively amazing in motion they can be a bit of a management hassle, especially in rotten weather. One of those has a hem something like 12 feet in circumference if all the pleats open up at the lower bound (with all the pleats closed, it falls straight to the deck).
I'd like to master the (vastly shorter) above-the-knee lengths, but it seems I don't really have the body-type to pull it off well. This doesn't mean I don't wear short stuff around the house, I just don't tend to wear that length out in public very often.
