Youtube lecture and newspaper article comment.

Post by geegee »

I came across a really good presentation by a young lady to a class of students the other day. It is entitled "Boys in skirts are Awesome" and is very positive, articulate and logical. Do watch it.

Also, the other day when I was reading the "Daily Mail" online, there was an article suggesting that skirts in the workplace (on women) were due for a comeback. I made a comment about men not having the option and saying that I would happily wear a skirt to work. I expected a lot of negative comment (red arrows) to this, but was very pleasantly surprised to see that it has received the highest approval (green arrows) of all the comments submitted for the article!

If you wish to check it out:

Happy skirting!

I wish I would have thought about wearing a skirt when I was working in a call center several years ago where everyone was under a dress code. They never said guys can't wear skirts. I personally can't stand someone telling me what I can and can't wear. One reason why I left the job plus a few other things going on that I didn't think should have been in work place that was causing more harm than what someone was wearing. I'll will never work at place again where they tell me how to dress. I'll work for myself before that happens again. What you wear to work as long as it is decent and respectful should not matter. If a guy wants to wear a skirt I see no issue with it same with women as long as its decent.

Now the main problem I have hear in my area is this is the bible belt part of the US and christians are quick to judge on what one wears or how they look. I live in small southern mountain town where most people are closed minded and are brainwashed to think one certain way. Like girls only can wear skirts and if a guy wears one the guy is automatically labeled gay or a cross dresser. If only people would do their research they would find out the history of skirts and they are healthy for men. Give me a skirt any day over pants or shorts. I cant find any that fit true anyway. They are either killing the crotch area or the crotch area is down to the knees.

The girl in video did make some good points but it was kinda hard to hear her at times. I will try to watch it again later on my desktop where I have better speakers.

That video brought a smile to my face on a day that I really needed it. Thanks.

This is not the first time that I've noticed the Daily Wail's readers being more broad-minded about men in skirts than you might expect. Look at other articles, e.g. the one about the 12-year old boy in England who wore a skirt to school in the spring of this year. It had lots of comments along the lines of "why shouldn't boys wear skirts" and they get lots of thumbs ups from the other readers.

Of course it's possible that there's a highly organised group of skirted men trolls trying to wind up the archetypal Daily Wail foaming-at-the-mouth rightwing readership! Is anyone here willing to own up to being part of it?
Keep on skirting,

Not all of us are, although I will admit that I live a long, long way from the US Bible Belt.

To skirt 24 comment about bible belt
I grew up in wv in a small community/town
and yes the mentality of being narrowminded
about how you dress and masculinity goes deep
and is everywhere but i don't think its because
of the bible belt/christian beliefs its just narrow
minded because of being in small clusters of
population
Some people just don't get out much mentally or
physically
