Re: Utilikilt Fair
FFS, first they muscle in on our syles of trousers, but that's not enough for women, is it? They've got to start wearing our SKIRTS as well!

Keep on skirting,

Re: Utilikilt Fair
I agree skirtyscot, I think we need to be more protective, if they take our skirts what will we wear?
Actually, on a serious note, I personal get a little angry when we are trying so hard to bring in mens skirts only to have to women try snatch it up. I wouldn't have any problem if men's skirt were mainstream but at this time when we are just starting to take ground I don't want to see that ground lost by women making our masculine designs unisexed. I feel that could be a step in the wrong dirrection.

Re: Utilikilt Fair
Indeed, SR. There is a serious point there.
You wouldn't expect women to go for that style. The heavy pleats and the cargo pockets add extra width to the outline. I don't know about the women round your way, but hereabouts the last thing most of them need is anything to make them look wider!
As for the fairy, she is just way overdressed!

Re: Utilikilt Fair
Most women here go for the feminine look when it comes to skirts, I am about to order a utilikilt and I know my wife has flatout said she would look silly in it, which I think is good for me. Some women here though will want to wear it because the guys are and they want to be "one of the guys" sort of thing. Actually, when I was at the shop recently, I went into a all men's store and infront of me their was a women, wearing mens shorts, men's t-shirt, short hair and looking through the mens clothes, but was clearly a woman and no one battered an eyelid. Its this sort of thing that bothers me when us men have no such eqaulity, and while there remains a double standard I will continue to get annoyed. I look at knee high boots for example, they were originally men's boot, they look manly and very commanding but now that women wear them with a little heel men won't go near them. It's said because so much of fashion that women have taken looks so great on men.....oh how I lament!skirtyscot wrote:Indeed, SR. There is a serious point there.

Re: Utilikilt Fairy
I used to work @ Utilikilts. There were quite a few women who would come in and buy a Utilikilt, mainly for the fact that it had pockets that were useable, so they didn't have to carry around a handbag or a shoulder bag. Usually, they seemed to migrate toward the minis, luckily, although, some chicks did tend to go for the normal lengths. The women who wore them were usually either hippies or people in alternative culture, etc. Lesbians really liked them, of course, since it made them feel more masculine.
The picture just reminds me of a hippie chick who's topless. Wings or not.

You have all the equality you need to go into any part of the retail floors and look at and / or purchase any product on the racks. Why the whinge?SkirtRevolution wrote:Actually, when I was at the shop recently, I went into a all men's store and infront of me their was a women, wearing mens shorts, men's t-shirt, short hair and looking through the mens clothes, but was clearly a woman and no one battered an eyelid. Instead of getting annoyed, you could just go and look at what you want, buy it and wear it. If you (and all the other folks who say they'd like to wear skirts) just plain get on and do it in public, it will soon cease to be remarkable.SkirtRevolution wrote:...and while there remains a double standard I will continue to get annoyed.
Nothing to stop you "going near them" though, (provided you can find a boot that fits).SkirtRevolution wrote:...I look at knee high boots for example, they were originally men's boot, they look manly and very commanding but now that women wear them with a little heel men won't go near them.
It's been said before, but will bear repeating:
Don't wait for someone else to give you permission to wear a skirt (or high boots); nobody will. However there is nothing to stop you right now, you simply need to make the decision to dress as you please and then carry it through; that's what "real men(TM)" do.
Have fun,
Ian.

You guys crack me up, I thought she was cute...
BTW, lots of women at the Dublin Irish Festival (in Ohio) buy and wear the utilikilts during festival. They have a wide appeal...

Ian, I completely agree with you on this, and that I why I am in public skirted now, although, it was in part this frustration that motivated me in first place to go public otherwise I would have been a lot more complacent and I think our disgruntlement is a good thing in stirring us men to make a change. In say this, your right, its us men that hold ourselves back more than anything else.Milfmog wrote:

I think our real problem is that just because of just one garment like a manly skirt you can still talk about cross dressing.Brandy wrote:A few months ago I was talking to lady who asked me about my Utilikilt. ... during the conversation she said ... yes I know a woman wearing a Utlilkilt is cross-dressing...
