Men's skirt from China
I don't know how new these designs are but it seems inevitable for china to jump on the men skirt band wagon, which is good news for us. The brand is called Zunjiu and they have a few designs that can be purchased online. I am not able to find a website but the idea that men do want to wear skirts seems to be growing and getting more international attention.

They have about 10 designs available.

That's good news.
An interesting selection of skirts, labeled for men, low-key, subdued colours, not too expensive -- unless you get customs charges on importation, of course.
Most of the pictures are too dark too see details clearly, unfortunately, there are no measurements, and I can't see myself ordering six of any one model, but I'm delighted to learn that Chinese manufacturers can see a future in marketing skirts to men.
It remains to be seen whether any western retail chain will put them in the shops. Some may have a go, knowing that women may well buy the articles even if men don't -- as we all know, women don't mind which department they buy their clothes in, M or F !

Re: Men's skirt from China
It says "not finished" I don't know what their "not finished" means but I once bought a skirt on eBay from china that "Wasn't finished" and what a mess...no hemming of any kind anywhere, including the bottom of the skirt, the pieces of material were sewn together but not hemmed or finished in any way. The cloth was rough on both sides. The two pockets were only attached in 3 places at the corners and you couldn't keep anything IN the pockets, fall right out the bottom. I repeat, NO hemming anywhere.
Be sure you're getting some warantee that you're getting a finished skirt before you shell out $200.00 beans.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

I am in contact with the designer and will be asking his story to learn more about his product. I will also invite him to Skirtcafe so hopefully there will be a chance to promote his work and also to give him some positive advise. I will keep us up to date on this one.

What do you think of the photos where the model is seen furiously ripping up his old jeans?

Please do all you can to get in contact with this supplier. If that price is right, it's a good deal. I'd like to ask some questions of him, like why just three sizes (and is XL in China actually boy's small in Canada;). I'm going down in sizes but it'll be at least six months before a 46 will go on me comfortably again...
I love the pic of the model ripping up his pants. Of course, as a sometimes pant wearer myself I know that I don't have to rip my pants up, they will eventually destroy themselves by getting thin and weak in the butt and inseam, and then ripping just when they shouldn't. Skirts are much more durable that way. This explains in part why my summer has been spent mostly in skirts...attrition.
It occurs to me that there is at least one country where men's skirts are so normal that there must already be a regular manufacturer. Men even wear them into parliament, with jackets and ties and all. I wish I could remember what that country is.

Re: Men's skirt from China
I have been in touch with the designer already and waiting again for their reply. As soon as I hear I will let you know. Also, on the site wear you can buy the skirt you can contact the designer dirrectly by sending an email to the person who supplys the skirts (same person) Hope this helps. We really need to encourage these people for stepping out to bring down this final taboo.
Re: Men's skirt from China
Of the several skirts shown only the denim one appeals to me. The skinny guy is wearing it half-way down his backside like the youth of today wear their jeans. Worn thus the lower hem covers the knee. Presumably if worn waist high with a belt the bottom hem would fall at or above the knee like a kilt. I like the man-sized side pockets, I'd rip off the outside attached bottom pocket...that's a sop to 'cargo' designs...and with the few pleats it would be comfortable to walk in and wear.
Pity they'll only offer to ship them six at a time. That rules out the individual retail customer.

Yes, indeed.SkirtRevolution wrote:...We really need to encourage these people for stepping out to bring down this final taboo.
I hope too that we get some information about which stores (if any) order these skirts from the manufacturer, so that we can go see them in the shops, and show that there is interest in such articles. Since they are being sold in lots of 6, they are obviously looking for orders from retailers rather than from individuals.
