Man Skirt

OK guys, hard to understand why a woman would wear this skirt, but it's certainly a step in the right direction for guys:

I agree, too short -- but they have the right idea WRT styling... Something like this, but larger overall and larger pockets, would be good for guys.

I could be tempted by that skirt (I have a couple of a very similar design in lightweight fabric). I might not even be put off by the length, though it is definitely at the short end of my range and sitting modestly would be something of a challenge. However the largest waist size is several inches too tight to allow me to breathe

I reckon many of the things that make it attractive to me would also be attractive to some (many?) women. Certainly there are times when Carole does not want to carry a bag and a useful pair of cargo pockets would be just dandy.

Regarding the measurement for a size 18 - - -
On the website look down toward the bottom to the block with "Description" on a tab.
Then in the lower right corner in underlined print see Size Chart.
Click on that and you get Carhartts size chart.
Thus your size 18 = Chest/Bust of 42.5 inches; Waist 35.5 inches and Hip of 46 inches.
I think you can ignore the chest/bust factor but the waist to hip measurement is definitely
suited to the female frame. Women normally have a 6-10 difference between waist to hip;
while men are 4-6 not withstanding other factors I won't go into.
One thing that can be a plus for this skirt is the number of pockets - no sporran or fanny bag
necessary here. Offered in three colors but selection is limited in some sizes.
I like the short length 18 inches leaves ample room for mobility yet provides sufficient coverage.
And at a sale price of $15.00 off $45 = $30 it is a very good buy.

Getting there, but not quite for me. I like the 'butch' design, but as has now become the norm with 'cargo' designs there are large outside pockets stitched on low on the leg either side. Because the whole is so short, these aren't quite as low as one sees on long 'shorts' nowadays, so perhaps they wouldn't be quite so tiresome.
At 18 " it's a tad short for my liking. I'd go for a size 16, which wouldn't fall off my diminutive frame & the colour choice is all well within the acceptable male range. As usual the carriage out of the US would double the price.

My, but that is too short for this shy guy to wear in public. I have a cotton twill skirt that I've cut off to roughly the same length that I hiked in before.
I've just gone and put the tape on my pleated cargo skirt that is pictured elsewhere on this site and was surprised to find that it is also 18". If a skirt fits lower on the waist/hips, 18" isn't as short as you might think.

24 inches is the common measurement for the fitting of a standard kilt.
That is determined with a 6 foot tall (about 2 meters) average individual
kneeling - the distance between the navel and the knee resting on a flat surface.

So 18 - 19 - even 20 inches is really not so bad a hem length when for the
most part skirts and some kilts are worn lower than the navel standard.

I have two 16 inch kilts that are NOT worn at the navel for obvious reasons;
but still yet some care must be taken when bending over; getting into out
of the car and just plain sitting. No real issue otherwise.

Indeed the skirt I'm wearing in my avatar picture (larger picture here) is 16" long; no problem at all until I want to sit down. There is just no way to do that without next weeks laundry going on show unless I can find a perch at about the right height to sort of lean my backside against for support rather than actually sitting on it. Bar-stools are an absolute no-no in that skirt

I'm 6'3" tall and standing in a 16" skirt only provides coverage for the top inch or so of my thighs. Sitting in a 16" skirt, even if I tug it down as I sit, leaves my underwear visible to me. Anybody sat opposite would get far more of an eyeful than I have any desire to provide.

It is simply not an image I am prepared to present to the world.

Yes it looks good, but as you say it is too short for most. l'd like something around 20 / 21" which would be knee length on me. The maximum waist size is the next issue, and I'm afraid size 18 won't fit.

I'm only 5'9", so my 18" skirt is about mid-thigh length on me. Don't think I have a 16 incher.

Would work for me. I am 5'8" and I have short legs so I usually get my kilts about 17"-16". I like them to be just above the knee. For guys with long legs maybe too short.

Found some Carhartt fabric for $2.65/yd... All we need now is a reasonable pattern. At this price, we could make one for everyone in the forum!
