Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
There has been some discussion of Macabi skirts here recently so when I opened my email this morning and saw that they are having a sale I thought I should put the details here...

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !
Well, that offer pushed me over the edge. I've been contemplating a Macabi for quite some time now, and all that was required was a gentle push. A long "Firebrick Red" should do nicely for sailing next year.

The Macabi looks like a good skirt that would suit my needs, and at sale price I'd be tempted to buy one, although postal charges to the UK may take the gloss off. However I've just had some spare material made into another (Mk 4) wrap around skirt, and ordered a cheap kilt from Tartanista. The latter caused my wife to comment that I had more skirts than her, so I think I'll leave it for this year !
I have 4 trousers, sorry, 2 pairs. Also one suit which doesn't fit. I have 4, sorry 2 pairs of jeans with a third pair missing in bedroom. I have at least a dozen skirts and a pair of kilts. What gives?
Is this why women need vast wardrobes to fit their clothes in while the man normally gets 6 inches of a clothes rail at one end?
Could it be the variety of types of skirt? when a pant is a pant is a pant? (or pair thereof)

One thing I've noticed for myself at least, whereas a pair of pants or shorts seems to feel pretty much the same as any other pair of pants or shorts (although shorts seem to have a bit of variety of feel depending on the cut and the material they're made from), it seems like each skirt feels a lot of different than another skirt, unless it is similar or identical in cut and fabric. So maybe it's the variety of feeling when you're wearing them that makes them interesting...just speculating.
Happiness arrived via the US Postal Service today in the form of my new "Long Firebrick Red" Macabi Skirt. It's an interesting garment, and one that will likely see a fair bit of use come summer and will likely become a quick favourite for the occasional sailing trip. It's not something, however, that I'd wear to work; it's just too rugged and "outdoorsy". I love the pockets!
Sapphire was quite fascinated and I'll be getting one for her for Christmas. (She already knows, so there's no secret to be blown.)

Thanks to this thread and the link above, I knew what I was seeing when I saw my first Macabi skirt being worn on the streets of San Francisco today. Being worn by a woman though.

Yay! A new post! *pounces on it like a cat on a mouse*.
I had seen the Macabi advertised and had thought about buying one but for about $60 or so I could buy an econo-kilt, or about 15 skirts from a thrift shop. Must be my Scots blood speaking, ha ha ha. However, I may eventually get one yet as they do seem to be really cool (cool as in neat, good, but also the other kind of cool too if the weather turns hot). OK, I'm done.
Well, my Macabis arrived today, Just trying them on before heading for work. They fit well, the lengths are what I was after, the fabric feels a bit like a light waterproof jacket, quite sort of nylonish, also a bit clingy. They are just out of the packet though, not washed yet.
I think I'm going to like them, specially on the boat next year.

It may be the newness of the garment as I've noticed the same thing. In my case, I ascribed it to the fact that I was wearing synthetic stuff under it as I just put it one when I got home from work; I suspect the garment is designed with bare legs and stout cotton socks in mind not synthetic tights.
Ian (Milfmog) should be better able to shine a light on the matter as I believe he has his "worked in".
