What is it called?

Post by rick401r »

I was wearing my Stillwater Black Watch kilt to a street fair last weekend. One of my grandsons (age 11) asked "Why are you wearing that ..." He stammered a bit; so I responded "Wearing what, a skirt, a dress? It's called a kilt son" He said he couldn't remember the word kilt. Then he said he liked it. "it's cool!"
By the way, I saw 3 other kilts being worn that day and recieved many compliments. Oh, and I also found a great pencil skirt at one booth in my size for $10.00! It was a good day.

Rick, that is just plain great! You stretched your grandson's view of the world, and all that can come of that is good. Hopefully the lad noticed the other three chaps wearing kilts that day.

If he's interested, you might get him one in his size. That is, of course, if his parents (i.e. one of your kids) wouldn't mind. It's nice that he thinks it's "cool".

in all the years I've been wearing kilt/skirts I've never seen anyone else in one, maybe I live in the wrong area

My wife and I usually take a cruise each year, leaving from Southampton. Because it takes too much room in the luggage, I have taken to wearing my kilt to and from the cruise ship ( I use the kilt for formal evenings) and on recent cruises have noticed one or two others doing the same. So you should see at least a few kilts in Southampton, even if they are just "passing through".
