feeling free

Post by Heavy Duty »

:D Hi All.
I just have to tell someone, have been public again. The feeling of freedom I had was fantastic, No big deal do I hear someone say but, It was only my second time out &feel on top of the world,
I went to a filling station to fill with fuel, I don't think anybody noticed I was wearing a denim skirt, very uneventful, then on to a small co-op store full of people. Again no reaction from anyone. I had to wait to pay behind other shoppers, again I don't think anyone noticed. Someone once said they thought a denim skirt was invisible, I am thinking they are right. Sorry to go on but I just had to tell someone.

Yes the feeling is very nice. The biggest hurdle is getting out the first time from then on I think it will get easier. I have been out a couple of times the last month in some very crowded places without adverse comments. In a restaurant I once got a question from another guest but not really negative. On the day of the european election I cast my vote in a skirt. I got a commenta from one of the guys saying "It must be cold". I told him, not at all. That was all that happened.

The only time I really got a reaction was when I went to the gas station in a dress. One man was looking at me almoust laughing at me, but there was no reaction from the man working at the gas station.

Have a nice day.

Hi Heavy Duty,

Glad to learn that you had an uneventful trip out skirted. Get used to it: you'll be having many more :D

I remain convinced that 95% of the responses people get to skirts are due to the demeanour of the wearer; look comfortable, confident and behave normally (whatever that is for you) and only one person in twenty will even notice the skirt. Based on my own experiences forty nine in fifty of the folks who comment to you will be supportive or curious (then supportive, even if it is "not for them"). So that leaves me getting slight negative reactions form maybe one person in a thousand of those who see me and even then the negativity is usually limited to a chuckle or a comment to the person they are with.

In the last four years I have had only two or three negative comments about my choice of attire, rather less than about my style of driving  (And that's not because I stick to invisible denim; I don't like the fabric much and have not worn my one denim skirt more than half a dozen times).

Keep on skirting, soon it will become a habit and you'll stop wondering if anyone will react, because most of them won't.

Have fun,

Ian.

As Milf said the key is to as act normally as if you were wearing trousers and had never worn anything else. I wear a skirt or jumper about 80% of the time when I'm out of my home, I only wear trousers or shorts if I'm doing something outside that I have to climb a ladder or do a lot of kneeling down. Any time I do anything public like shop or go to events I'm skirted (skirted means skirt, jumper, sarong, sulu, lavalava or towel skirt) I wear a towel skirt over swim trunks in and out of the city pool they've just built here.

I don't think I've had a negative comment about my clothes in at least a year. 8)
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

I've been skirted part time since 1972 and full time since 2005. http://skirts4men.myfreeforum.org/

That's fantastic that you had a good experience wearing it in public. Last year, when I was a senior in high school, I started wearing skirts to my school. Some kids joked about it, but most really liked it. I think that if I could survive wearing a skirt/utilikilt to school then I would be fine in public. Which when I do wear one in public, I haven't got any negative comments.
Wearing a skirt makes everything fun!

I used denim mini skirt (between 11" to 14") and already went to petrol station to pump my car tyres and other cars queue at the back plus other cars with people sitting inside dont bother to noticed me in skirt - feel free to wear skirt, I wear tights and skirt that look nicely.. :)
