Tights and the "necessary" visit
I have finally found some tights that are so comfortable that I could consider wearing them all day: JustMySize Microfiber tights, in size 4X. They go on without a lot of tugging, they stay up, and they don't bind at the waist. And they're not scratchy.
The only issue I have (aside from the fact that they aren't sold on-line and I can't find any color but black) is that they come up to the middle of my chest, which is a good 6-10 inches above my skirt's waistband. This makes it complicated to pull them down and back up when I go to the loo. I have to either pull the skirt (and petticoats) up to my armpits or else get undressed before and get dressed again afterwards.
Does anyone here who has experience with tights and/or pantyhose have this issue? Is there a more graceful way to handle it?

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
I suspect the rise of the "Just My Size" tights is just the way they're sized and made; I wear a size 3X and whilst they fit great below the waist, the rise can be bothersome. That said, I have several pair in black and a few more in ivory.
I've also had good luck with "No Nonsense" recently; they fit well all over, stay in place, and don't require a fight to put them on -- and have a lower rise than the "Just My Size". In Size "C" (IIRC) I have a couple in what the manufacturer dubs "raspberry" (although if I ever saw a raspberry in that colour the first thing I'd reach for is my geiger counter) and a couple more in "peacock" (a bluish green). Both colours are quite a bit more daring than "basic black".

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
I have something like a dozen pairs of tights, from at least 5 or 6 vendors.crfriend wrote:I've ... had good luck with "No Nonsense" recently; they fit well all over, stay in place, and don't require a fight to put them on -- and have a lower rise than the "Just My Size". In Size "C"....
All come at least several inches above the navel.
I notice that all the catalog pictures I've ever seen of tights, whether on live models or on mannequins, show the waistband coming up well over the navel. I suspect that this is by design, so that the waistband will be above the belly and so will stay up without having to have a tight waistband.
Also note that my "belt line" is several inches below the navel, at least in front.
As for "size C" -- there's no way I could wear size C in any brand of tights.

Well, YOU don't have pipe cleaners/que-tips for legs like some of the "harrumph" more svelte members. I don't know what size mine are that I buy from "Just My Size" but they fit, probably size Z. Before I cut off the top, it goes all the way to my armpits, so it must be for a huge person to begin with. Perhaps they were made for Andre The Giant before he passed.AMM said: As for "size C" -- there's no way I could wear size C in any brand of tights.
After I cut it just above the knees, and roll it down a few rolls it stays in place just fine.

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
this is something I find peculiar about my build. Tights fit me very well. I have only had a couple of pair fit badly. Yea the waistband comes above my naval sometimes, but most of the time it is no bother.
One reason I get so aggravated by my being limited in what I can wear because of my sex. Jeans fit me awfully, skirts fit me well, leggings, well, hose and tights well. Slacks? bleh Chenongsam...heavenly.
I also have not had a problem getting hose or tights on. I of course had to find the correct size for me. I used to wear size A, but they split easily as I got older, so I went to B. Or medium.
Don't get it.

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
I've seen some interesting comments in this thread, but so far, no one has addressed the issue which made me post in the first place:
how to handle going to the loo when wearing tights that extend above the waistband.
Does no one but me have this problem?

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
Get one size smaller, that is all I can think. Or try men's tights, they have more size range. My tights or hose usually end up just above my naval, which has turned out to not be a problem, except for the one time I wore a corset, then that was a problem seeing as the corset was covering the waistband.

part 1. Here's some links. All of these carry the Just My Size tights in varied colors and sizes up to 8X, I get them in black, dark blue, grape, chocolate, beige, and khaki. They also come in red, cream and orange, I just don't use those colors.

Part 2. I wear jockey shorts underpants, so I cut out the whole area where the seam and "patch" is, leaving behind just a strip about 2 inches wide on each side and an area about 4 inches wide horizontally where my "belt" would be, thereby using my regular underpants the same way I would if the tights weren't there. Conquers two problems at the same time. Keeps them from rolling down and allows the same usage I'd get if I was just wearing my underpants.

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
Yes I do find tights are great - love it as it feel great after shaving legs then put tights on and then skirt on. and here >> http://lingerie.lovetoknow.com/Sheer_Tights_for_Men also UK online do sell tights for men as well - it dont matter women or men tights to buy - I used women tights cos Im so slim, I find very comfortable (I used between 40 to 100 denier opaque tights - mainly in black and some other different colour). I wear under denim or cord or velvet mini skirt and some denim shorts (I have black cord shorts as well). I dont use sock cos it old fashion and so boring.
Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
I just bought a pair of pantyhose. No Nonsense Great Shapes, midnight black, size D. I took them home not expecting too much but I put them on and they seemed to fit and as I was bringing them up to my waist - WOW. They actually ended at my waist - Amazing. I am going to buy more. Every other brand I've tried wanted to come way up almost to my breasts. I am 6' 204lbs.

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
well, my best sugestion about wearing tight's when it come's to wearing skirts would be this. I know that there is some sort of stigma about men sitting and taking a leak to me this is really stupid i mean after all we have to sit when we take a number 2 right? anyway my point is this when you are putting your tight's or hose on don't pull them really tight when coming up the leg. this serve's 2 thing's 1. it keep's you from pulling them so tight that they run or get a whole and 2. it keeps you from strechting them too much. if you do that then they wont fit right. tina turrner (the best legs in rock and roll) talked one time about how to put on a pair of hose. the one thing she does is just pull's them up with out really pulling them tight at the toe. what that does is keep the hose from being to tight on the toe's and allows some movement in the toe's. then she work's them up her legs until the gusset is just below the spot she said shouldn't be touching at this point. then she take's and get's her hand wet and rub's them up the leg pulling the fabric up the leg and making everything nice and smooth. by the time she does that it bring up the extra fabric then she readjust the rest up top. I have tried this a few time's and it really does work quite well especially if the hose are new. this is how i put my hose on all the time now and I never have any problem's with my hose being higher than my skirt waist line. then when i have to take care of bizz i just pull up pull down sit or stand depending and take care of bizz. I hope this helps

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
Please correct me if I'm wrong. In my limited experience, knowing full well that on both men and women we both have left and right "breasts" BUT, isn't it more commonplace for men to refer to their breasts as left side/right side of their "chest"? Women's "chest" has a different main purpose in most women and is commonly referred to as her "breasts" because of the childbearing usage result, and not her "chests". It's just that I've seldom, if not never seen them referred to as men's breasts.Every other brand I've tried wanted to come way up almost to my breasts. I am 6' 204lbs.
A famous Admiral of WW2 had a huge chest area and got a nickname for the rest of his life and was known and is still known in History Books as "Admiral Chesty Puller". I doubt he'd have been nearly as popular if known as "Admiral Breasty Puller" lol....even though it was correct.

Re: Tights and the "necessary" visit
I have heard the tip about wetting one's hand and gently dragging the hose up with your hands. I have done this since probably the third time I wore hose. It does really work well.

This is one of the reasons I prefer leggings to tights!

they SHOULD stop right around the waist (within a couple of inches), and then the "loo issue" becomes a non-issue.
if my skirt is elastic waist, i just "thumb-in" to all layers (skirt/slip/hosiery), pull down a couple inches and do what's needed.
if the skirt isn't elastic, unzip, "thumb in" to the inner layers, etc...
finding the correct brand and size can be a little tricky, but worth the effort.
hope this helps some
