Blasphemy?
Blasphemy?
I know this may be blasphemy here at Skirtcafe, but has anyone tried wearing women's jeans with spandex? I was so tired of mens baggy, loose fitting jeans I tried some of these womens jeans. they're almost like wearing a heavy pair of tights and in this cold weather I can appreciate a pair of pants over a skirt or kilt.

NOT blasphemy! this is FREESTYLE fashions, after all
i actually used to buy women's jeans and pants very regularly. i'm quite thin, and it was always so difficult to find a pair that didn't feel like mc hammer parachute pants. nowadays it's a little more common to find mens jeans in sizes smaller than 30 inch (esp. in higher end retailers). but i still go for women's jeans and pants because there are so many more choices and i love the fit so much better. the only hard part is to find a pair that doesn't have such wide hips and a large seat.
a skirt over jeans like how ellen page wore in juno is a really really cute look. check out the DVD cover for a visual aid:

Speaking personally, I detest the skirt over jeans look. It just seems utterly daft, generally looks slovenly and seems to be the worst of all worlds.
Have fun,
Ian.

Re: Blasphemy?
I think you misunderstond my statement. what I was trying to say was that I would rather wear my women's jeans rather than a skirt or kilt during the winter season.

Re: Blasphemy?
I know the feeling very well. Lately I've been getting my jeans at Hot Topic and they actually fit good. One drawback I've noticed... they don't last as long as let's say Levis. I heard that the Levis 511 style is supposed to be "peg-leg" design. Gotta check them out...rick401r wrote:"... I was so tired of mens baggy, loose fitting jeans... "

1. Gentlemen: please quote what you are responding to. If I had to guess, I would guess that rick401r is responding to a response which also did not indicate what it was responding to, and so he may have misunderstood the point of that response. Misunderstanding piled on top of misunderstanding, like a classic (American) football pile-up tackle.rick401r wrote:I think you misunderstond my statement. what I was trying to say was that I would rather wear my women's jeans rather than a skirt or kilt during the winter season.
2. To respond to the original post: I am not of your opinion, and I believe there are others who aren't, too, but to each his/her own. If you find that you didn't get a lot of responses in this thread, well, it's a topic that comes up pretty regularly whenever the Northern Hemisphere gets wintry, including more than one thread this winter, and I can't say that there's much left to say that hasn't already been said. BTW, this topic is usually found in the "skirts and kilts" section, as it is not a particularly "freestyle" issue (kilt-wearers get cold, too.)
Thanks for all the fish.
Re: Blasphemy?
I see no problems with female pants.
While I do own a few pairs of male pants, I mostly were the ladies pull-ons at work, they look like formal sweats. 2 side pockets no back.
A lot of people know this but hey if it's comfortable go for it.
I started wearing them the first summer when I found mens pants to hot, and noticed most of the women wore these pull-ons.
We do have a dress code, and due to lot of ladders, skirts need a letter from the doctor or minister.
I do own several obvious women jeans (one with back zipper), never get any looks.
Does anyone remember the male cord short/shorts of the 70's from OP?
I had two pairs and if there them and they were as long as those short running shorts.

Rich_L:
Do you remember the basketball shorts worn pre 1970?
They were the shortest short of any athletic sport except maybe a wrestling or swimming event.
Now the sport for both sexes has the 20 gallon baggy boxer type short if you can call it that.
For a better description I would call them pantaloons with team logos and numbers and minus the ruffles and lace.
When wearing pants, trousers or married twin skirts I also prefer the pull-on type with the elastic waist.
No belt loops; no pockets just plain pants. Easy, low maintenance wash and wear. With no pockets nothing to
snag or catch on. No rips or tearing. The pockets on some of the pull-on pants are sufficient to carry only one of these
at a time: a handkerchief; keys; compact or lipstick so why bother with the accessory decoration. A fanny pack
or clutch bag works just fine. Zippered pants are all right. But some of these have a limited range of motion comfort
in doing such things as going up and down ladders and squatting to pick things up.
Now don't get me started on the abomination of overalls.

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !
