Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
While wandering through Sears yesterday, I bought this nice looking denim skirt:
I've been looking for a sedate looking, knee length denim skirt and found this item. It comes with a fabric belt and has cute four inch slits on both sides, it fits well and looks great on me. This is perfect as I think longer skirts would suit me better for future public outings since I won't stand out so much as I would in a shorter skirt, at least until I build up my confidence to the point where I won't care about high hemlines and showing off my legs. Heh! But for now, this is the sort of look I like and am most comfortable with. Once I take this skirt out for a spin, I'll be sure to let everyone know how it went. What do you think?
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.
the only issue i have is the combination of skirt and hose with apparently male shoes, but this is a personal issue as i seem to have difficulty finding the right combination for myself as well.
the best thing you have going for you with the look is that you apear to be happy (smile, body language, etc...) and this makes ALL the difference in the world.
good job!
you know... george orwell warned us!

sapphire & r1g0r: Thanks for the compliments. Regarding the footwear, those are women's shoes which I bought from Maryland Square a couple of months ago. The brand name is Blondo (from Canada) and the style name is "Lazuli", here's a pic:
They're leather with a two inch heel (providing a satisfying clack when I walk) and are very comfortable, not to mention being quite stylish. By the by, Maryland Square no longer sells this style, but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere online.

That style is absolutely believeable as a man's shoe. I recall having shoes like that back in the 1970s and miss them. The 1980s really wrecked things when it came to mens fashion.

Ain't that the truth! To tell you the truth, the 80's weren't all that kind to women's fashion either!
