Nightshirts?

Post by Uncle Al »

Quite a while back the question of Night Shirts came up.
Many could not find comfortable ones, long enough ones,
etc. :? Well (thanks to my wife :) ), I've found a good size( 3X ),
buy and decent length in the HANES Brand called 'rest essentials'
sleep shirt. 100% cotton. ( Yes, it is across the aisle! :P ) I'm 6' 2"
and it comes to the middle of my knees. They are at Wal-Mart for
$9.98 plus tax. Stripes and solid colors. Quite comfy. I now
have 2 of them. :D

Just thought I'ld pass the word along for those still
interested in nightshirts. 8)

Not much use this side of the Atlantic, but thanks anyway.

There is one mail order company in Europe (Witt) that often does men's nightshirts of a similar length - but except in mid-summer I prefer my nightshirts calf or ankle length.

I have 3 my wife has made for me, the rest are plain women's nightshirts/nightdresses, the ones that are not pink, flowery or frilly (I have no problem with those colours etc, I wear the nightshirt in the dark most of the time anyway, but my wife much prefers the plain look!)
All the best,

Here's a supplier in the uk who sell nightshirts for a reasonable price. They sell through a catalogue, and I found an advert in the Times before Christmas. My wife bought me two for a price of £20.00. They fit well and feel good.

At the moment, they are only showing pajamas and dressing goiwns, not nightshirts.

Pity!

I have mentioned them before, 'Nights in White flannel' are a Canadian company who make nightshirts and gowns to order, they will do custom orders, I got them to make me some floor length nightshirts a year ago, great company, good products, last for years and all made from Canadian flannel which is very soft and warm but very hardwearing as well. They are also easy to look after, throw them into a cotton cycle and tumble dry them no problem.
I found they deliver to the uk no problem, a bigger problem was getting the money converted and sent out to Canada without a credit card.

Just afteer Christmas I recommended a supplier - and they had stopped advertising.

The nightshirt supplier - Chums - is again advertising nightshirts.

They are advertised in their "paper" catalogue as well.

For those who can stomach a nightgown with a bit of feminitity, I heartily recommend the brand "Lanz of Salzberg".

The winter styles of gowns and PJs are made with heavy flannel and are quite warm. I have worn out some of these gowns but it has taken years to do so.

WinterSilks makes men's, women's, and unisex models.

I just went ahead and purchased mine from WomanWithin, which used to be Lane Bryant (I believe). I also have one from LLBean which is a woman's ankle length nightshirt/gown.

They are all cotton, plain colors, and I have removed the little rose as the base of the throat as it is unnecessary adornment that I am usually not fond of.

I like women's nightshirts and t-shirts best because the crew-neck is much more open than on men's shirts.

Nightshirts for Biggies

Post by Since1982 »

I have 3 nightshirts at this time. They are all mid to lower calf length, made of soft cotton T-shirt material, I have 1 with full length sleeves, 2 with elbow length sleeves. All are very loose and comfortable and make sleeping on a cool night very pleasurable. I buy mine from the KingSize Catalog "More for Less in Big and Tall Sizes" 1-800-846-1600 or kingsizedirect.com

The current catalog gives a free digital Radio Weather Station valued at $24.99 with "ANY" order. Use promo code KS10655

p rUSSELL COLLEGE NIGHTSHIRT was $34.99 to $44.99 NOW $15.99 all sizes 1177-69538-284

S. cotton jersey nightshirt 1177-68856-284 Was $19.99 to $25.99 NOW $8.99 all sizes

Again, the Order by Phone # is 1-800-846-1600
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

I have been wearing nightgowns for some time now. They are not unusually feminine or anything racy. And the embroidering is simple and "muted." They are of the same pattern, but I have one in a long sleeve style and one in a "tank" style. Very comfortable. Both are a pastel blue. I do have a victorian style nightgown and while it has more femininity than the others, it still is not bad. All are comfortable and nightgowns are far easier to find than mens' nightshirts. As long as it is comfortable, I will wear any style that I feel looks good on me. After all, when I am asleep I could care less about what my gowns look like. :D

Sapphire! Lanz of Salzburg sounds to me like a rather macho single cylinder, semi diesel tractor. Originally blowlamp start and hot bulb ignition, with hand cranking using the steering wheel on the end of the crankshaft. They had the interesting habit of going backwards off dead centre, so that, after idling for a while, when the driver put the gear in first gear, it would take off backwards on releasing the clutch! Last incarnations of them had glow plug ignition and electric starters. (Killjoys) They were eventually taken over by John Deere. I've never thought of wearing one. :P

Sarongman, you crack me up!

The nightgowns are comfy and warm. I do see one problem for a man who tries one: the long sleeves will probably be too short for a man. Men tend to have longer arms than women.

Interesting tidbit...about men having longer arms than women. I didn't know that.

One thing...there's an easy place to get men's nightshirts in Montreal, some of the time....The Bay. Simmon's and Oglivy's may also have them, but in a more limited selection and/or pricier.

I never really thought to try "nightgowns" designed for women.
