it may be a good thing not to have a cat wrapped around your shoulders, purring all the time, as you walk somewhere
Well, I have had cats do that. Before she got sick, House Lion used to ride on my shoulders. Maybe once she fully recovers from surgery she'll do it again.

Two years ago, I rescued and raised 3 orphan kittens: SuperStar, Possum and Lorenzo. When they got old enough, I placed them into loving homes.

Whenever she could, Possum would jump onto my shoulders and ride around, purring up a storm in my ear. The problem was that I didn't quit doing whatever I was doing. Possum adjusted to changes in movement, mostly using a great sense of balance, but, oh, those claws!
So you do or had a living shawl!
Very stylish!, and with a nice soothing purring sound, that beats the MP3 player anytime! But OOOOOOHHH those claws. :? :( :)

A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.

True, except when you need to crank the stereo with some good old Boston Celtic Punk

We just finished listening to a punk rocked up version of Scotland the Brave

Now we are listening to "Tessie" the official unofficial anthem of the Boston Red Sox.

The cats are gobsmacked

Hey, guys! Thought I'd wander over to this neck of the woods and brag a bit about the outfit I put together today... I thought I did a pretty nifty job, and wanted to share.

I'm wearing a cerulean blue scoop-neck knit top, with 3/4 length sleeves. As most of my tops do, it skims closely but doesn't "grab".

I've got on a chunky silver necklace which rests on the shirt, not my skin. Earrings are small blue crystals. Bracelet is a delicate silver flower chain with tiny blue beads accenting. On the other hand I have a chunky blue-and-green enamel flower ring.

My skirt is an ankle-length double-layer polyester chiffon. Black background, blue flowers with green leaves.

I'm wearing my kitten-heeled velvet shoes with mary jane straps and silver detailing. Black knee-highs, because why bother with full-length hose when you're wearing an ankle-length skirt?

Impeccable makeup, naturally. Natural browns as usual to highlight my brown hair and eyes, but deep rose-pink lipstick this time to bring a shock of color to my face and accentuate my full lips. I don't always play up this feature because I don't want to look like a sex kitten, but today I'm wearing such a bold color I knew I could pull it off!

Hair, as usual, worn loosely around the shoulders. I rarely take the time to worry about doing my hair much, so I have an easy-care style which takes advantage of my natural wave. Besides, I like the way loose hair looks. I nearly always part my hair on the side.

Okay, that's me! Having a pretty good day today. I've already shared elsewhere what I look like on a schlumpy day, I thought I'd share what I look like when I'm feeling my best!

TTYL!

Hey Carl, is there any way to revive a keyboard that has shorted out because of an excess of, well, fluids dripping into the mechanism? :)

Last night I wore my rainbow skirt to the Contra Dance. Red shirt, red OTK socks, brown wool vest through the first two dances. Several women commented on how well it swirled. I don't know if it was the Right Thing to say, but I responded that I hoped it swirled well, since that was the intent.

Today I was chilly and tired -- I'm trying to help my older son feel comfortable riding public transportation, so instead of driving to pick him up this afternoon/evening, I took the bus over and rode back with him. 3 hours round trip, and it's below freezing. So I'm wearing my "overskirt" -- black nylon about 36" long, with a green fleece lining -- and a red turtleneck shirt, no socks or petticoat or anything. I'm counting it as "out and about" because I wore it to empty the garbage can in my apartment complex's dumpster, a walk of about 50 m outside (in the snow.)

If the snow holds, I may try cross-country skiing tomorrow morning in a skirt.

The only "out" I did today was to put the garbage bins out at the road 300 yards away. SO. was in daggy shorts and T shirt. I wore a white T shirt with red mud coloured dog paw prints ( it was clean when I put it on!) over a navy blue heavy cotton, ankle length wrap skirt and gum boots (wellies). I've changed shirt and shucked off the rubber boots at the back door but the skirt stays on all day.

AMM,
Let us know how the x-c skiing works out. I'm hesitant to try doing it myself for fear that the hem of the skirt will get soaked and be an unwanted chill factor.

Still, the image of gliding over the snow skirted is a pretty one, as long as one is on fairly level terrain and not in deep woods on a narrow track.

AH, but the notion of skiing across a field by the light of the full moon......
MAGIC!!

I've done it but not in a skirt.

You've got that problem, too? My keyboard was exhibiting similar glitches after Emmy's post as well.... ;)

Your mileage will likely vary, but I've actually had luck in the past with some (it strongly depends on design) "contaminated" (kitty spray) keyboards by simply opening them up and giving them a good bath in the sink followed by a dry in the oven at about 150 degrees for a half-hour (or until dry, whichever comes first).

Astounding! Thanks for sharing, Emmy. With luck, you got some well-mannered double-takes.

Woke up to a light drizzle. The ~1" of snow had turned into about 1/4" icy slush over everything, including the sidewalks and the train platform.:(

My skis are standing in the entryway of my apartment, waiting patiently for the next snowfall.

We got about an inch with an icy skim coat, at least a red wax day for the early moring.

After leaving an early morning DR appt, the temps had warmed to the point that if one were a true fanatic, klister would be the call. I've never been that much of a fanatic and klister is evil.

Out and about: Black everyday skirt, black textured hose, heavy black socks, red turtleneck, oatmeal colored wool knitted vest and gray wool knitted short coat. Whilst scraping the car, I had tan heavy leather gloves (gardening gloves, actually.) Very warm! Didn't need a hat or scarf.

Hmmm. might be a good xc ski outfit. What do you think?
