I stuttered a bit and said, I made it out of a pair of denim shorts...She said, "Good Idea", See ya! and walked on to wherever she was going...I stood there in the dark thinking about what I'd seen and heard, Well now, hmmm, So I walked across the street to a 7-11 and went into the light.
I peeped over my shoulder to see if the clerk noticed my skirt, he was ignoring me like any other customer. I got a Mountain Dew out of the cooler and went up front to pay for it. I was giving over the money when 3 commercial fishermen I knew walked in. Here I was standing right out in the light wearing a skirt and waiting to be beat to a pulp and one said, "Nice skirt, skip" I just bought an Amerikilt last month at a Celtic festival in South Carolina, it sure is comfortable. They bought what they wanted and left, I wandered away drinking my soda and thinking hard about the evening. Wow, I thought, maybe what I've been seeing at the Tom's cafe site is really true, no one really cares....
Nowadays, I go everywhere wearing skirts, I have probably 30 of them now, slips, tights, and a bra for my gynecomastia that I've had most of my life.
I gave all my trousers to the Salvation Army long ago and never intend buying any more. If women aren't going to wear skirts, why the heck shouldn't we? Now I go to Bingo at least 3 times a week, I always go skirted, I still own one pair of denim cutoffs that I wear begrudgingly when my skirts are in the wash and I have bawled out my SO for not keeping ahead of her laundry. When I wear the cutoffs to Bingo I have to answer the only question I've ever had about my skirt wearing, "Skip, where's your skirt?"
So get out there and skirt, its really a non-event. I just wish I'd found this site 30 years ago.
