Assorted ramblings....

Frankie -- Sorry to hear about the difficulties with your wife. With luck she'll come' round at some point; maybe when she realises that your co-workers are accepting and that she needn't feel threatened by your "unusual" (yeah, right -- in this crowd :D ) appearance.

Skip -- Good job on taming your SO. That sounds like a success story!

Last night marked the first of eight classes I'm attending on the botany of the New England area (looks like it's going to be an interesting time!); it was my wife's idea, but I'm innately curious about the world around me and needed something other than total immersion in computers. 'Twas a good time; the openening lecture was good, and I wore my black tiered skirt, dark vest, white shirt, dark jacket, and black opaque tights (it was cold and raw outside and I needed something else if we'd have gone outside I'd have been cold). Nary a comment from anybody. {shrug}

Hi all,
Frankie, I love the look you've crafted for yourself and I hope the problems you've been suffering at home are resolved happily and soon.

I'm able (willing?) to wear a skirt to work at weekends, but I haven't yet done so during the week. I'm not sure how the managers would react, and there would be a considerable amount of ridicule and 'what the %$£*' from my co-workers. Too be honest, it's too much right now to deal with. As I work in an academic library things will quieten down in a couple of months with the end of the academic year, so maybe over the summer I give it a try.

Most of the time I'm dealing with the public face to face (well, students mostly...) and I've never had a negative experience during the times when I've been skirted; the only comments have been positive and encouraging, so I've no real concerns about public reaction. Managers and coworkers however are a different matter, as I've said.

I'm working this coming Sunday so I'll be coming in skirted. I usually wear knee-highs or dark hose (I shave my legs too, much more comfortable and pleasant) but as the weather has warmed up (at last!) I'll probable go for sandals. I've recently bought a pair of 'Softwaves' shoes, they only have a 1 inch wedge but are styled like court shoes and they are incredibly comfortable. They are in navy blue so look good with a whole range of skirts, as well as jeans. Here's the page, the shoes I have are items 2 and 3 down the page:

http://www.magnusshoes.com/ladies_shoes ... offset=15#

I'd like to get some shoes with a heal but I struggle with sizing. Any suggestions?

Anyway I'm looking forward to coming into the workplace in a skirt this weekend, the sense of freedom and individuality I feel when I do so is very satisfying. Maybe before too much longer I'll be able to choose what to wear to work without worrying about what other people are going to say.

All best wishes,
Ash

Size, or at least length, matters!

Woo hoo! I'm not alone in my liking of long skirts! I'm vastly more comfortable in longer ones than I am in shorter models. Maybe I'm just too modest; I like minis when it's hot, but don't venture "off the property" in 'em -- I feel too naked.

Ace Hardware

Out to the Ace Hardware today in an "invisible" denim conversion skirt. Check "Denim skirts ARE invisible" for the minutes of the meeting with the clerk. :)  :shake:

I too prefer longer skirts. The world just isn't ready for my legs!

Today I wore my Flower of Scotland tartan kilt, lovat blue tweed jacket, blue shirt and tie, lovat kilt hose and black shoes and sporran.
Left the house at 7am and went round to my local garage to fill up. My usual young lady cashier asked where I was going and commented on the fact that it wasnt a good day for kilts(wet and windy). Got to Glasgow and it dried up. Was asked by two Italian ladies for photos with each of them and they told me they loved the kilt.
Two young teenage girls asked if I was cold wearing a kilt and suggested I should wear knickers under it. They must have seen me crouch down in WHSmiths to get my magazine off the bottom shelf!

That was my day in my kilt.

Orange T-shirt
black Survival UK
black knee socks with red stripes near the top
brown Asolo hiking boots.

Normal errand-running day for me...

Out hiking (pretty easy hiking at the Pawnee Buttes in northeastern Colorado) with my "Mountain kilt", more like a wrap skirt.
