That's pretty neat, Nigel, that's the first site I've seen so far that specializes in something mundane like a tack shop and has a "Men's skirt" in stock as if it was just as normal as a man's hat. Unfortunate the only picture they have is the one in GREEN.That's a really good sign of the times. Best I've seen. Every other man's skirt I've seen was somewhere with nothing else but clothing or advertised as something else, like theatrical costumes or on a Punk or Goth site. Very good indeed! :bluebounce: :kiltdance: :kiltdance: :red:

I don't get it, what does a skirt have to do with horseback riding? Would men then ride side-saddle? Very odd.

You're not the only one!! Men first started wearing trousers due to horse riding, now there's a horse riding site selling mens skirts - have we come full circle?!

I mean really, why do we care why its in the ad, the fact it's in the ad has to be a good thing for the future of men in skirts. Maybe it's promoting the Man's skirt as something to wear when not riding, sort of like a Roman changed back to his Toga when he came back from the wars. :shadow:

Hmm ... that's a strange-looking one. It seems to be fitted over his jacket. Is this a specialist item for the carriage-driving fraternity (that's the product category it's listed under), and maybe not quite what we think it is? Maybe I should stop looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I'm still fascinated.

From my trawling the web, it looks like the same thing as a "driving apron", which is like a wrap-around overskirt for weather protection, fastening at the back. See an example at http://www.momentintimehorseaccessories.com/custom.html . Apron seems to be the standard term, but it's nice to see them calling it a skirt; it shows how widely accepted the idea of skirts for men really is.

Waterproof skirts for men are also making an appearance on the shooting circuit (that's organised game shoots and relatively formal semi-social event in the UK). I found one example here but there are others if you take the trouble to search for them. I have seen a couple of anglers using these when planning a night fishing session because they can sit in a sleeping bag and wrap this around them for wind and weather protection.

Have fun,

Ian.

I've seen English taxi drivers wearing something similar:-

Yeah, but those are all Muslims wearing trousers underneath. The few of them who might want to not wear trousers would get harassed by their families. To them, those are religious garments. No different than a Priest's cassock. Just like the skullcaps they are all wearing. :blue:

Ooh, that green skirt/cover does look great! Seeing the belt on it makes me realize how few belts I see at the cafe. It seems like a thick belt or large buckle would be a good way to help incorporate skirts into a masculine look.
