Who has better legs Men? or Women?

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

I found this photo on line which speaks of itself to this subject!
I think it doesn't matter who has the better legs.
Both genders have the ability to look have good looking legs.
But it also is a matter of what we are used to seeing!

In general I would say women have more nice-looking legs (not better). By the way, what do you mean with "better legs"? For me good legs are legs which are doing their job without any problems. :D

But yes, you can find some exceptions (genderless).

From the examples I've seen here, is anyone saying that legs with high heeled shoes on look better? As the only 2 samples I've seen in this thread are both wearing heels. Both of those pairs of heels remind me of ones my Mom wore 40 years ago. :alien:

I think the takeaway from this is that men's legs and women's legs look subtly different and that one cannot ascribe "better" to one over the other. As Mipi points out, "good legs" are the ones that do what's asked of them; they weren't put there for the enjoyment of others, they were put there for functional purposes of (primarily) locomotion. That others can enjoy shapely legs is icing on the cake.

I don't think that anybody is saying that explicitly. Legs look different when somebody is wearing heels than when they're wearing flats because the different foot angle tenses or relaxes the calf muscles; whether this looks "better" (or not) depends on the tastes of the viewer. Too, Western Culture tends to impart more of a notion of "sexiness" when heels are worn, and that may factor into the perceived "look".

Tooslowprius' shoes, aside from the openings in the vamp (the upper) remind me of some of the styles I wore back in the 1970s and are perfectly believeable as men's footgear. The second set, I think, less so because of the fussy (as in "not very practical") look of the ankle strap and the open toes.

I wasn't inferring there was anything wrong with those shoes, it was precisely the openings on top and open toes and strappy looks that I remember about my Mom's shoes.

I do also remember the blocky high heeled boots nearly everyone wore back in the early 70's with leisure suits and bell bottoms that were so big they could nearly pass for a separate skirt for each leg. I remember everyone going to special shoppes to get monstrous Afros for men and women no matter what nationality they were. Like getting on a motorcycle and worrying about hitting overhead branches with your afro. AND polka Dots on everything!! Men were definitely tilting the apple on the fashion plate. No one was accused of being feminine either.

Far more than they are now, even with Marc Jacobs skirts. :flower: :batman: :queen: :chef: :kiltdance:

my opinion:

women's legs are more curvy, less likely to have knobby knees, have less hair and blemishes.

men's legs CAN fit the above guidelines, but as a general rule do not.

i prefer shorter, fuller legs. not heavy enough that the out-in-out-in of thigh-knee-calf-ankle is diminished, but rather enhanced.

stockings improve the look. BLACK STOCKINGS become instant attention-grabbers. tights can be wonderful!

strangely, i don't prefer shorter skirts unless the look is perfect (muy rare). just above knee is the shortest, and on longer skirts a peek through a slit is enticing. a woman can wear as long a skirt as she can manage.

boots, sandals, SOME pumps, oxfords, cage shoes (what an idea!) are good. some flats. no flip-flops! nonononononono! they are as ugly as 10 miles of bad road. anywhere from 2"-5" heels, IF she can walk well and comfortably in them.

there. my sexist, idealized view of women in skirts/hose/shoes.

Nice looking legs on both pics!About better legs, I do not think that different genders should compete, so I prefer on a man no hair and athletic looking legs.Yep man do not have celulitis and fat depots as many women have on the legs, so if a man takes good care of his legs (no hair pls) he can look aesthetically. But remember,a woman in trousers and man's shirt, shoes generally does not look physically as a male and should not be compared with males while wearing the above mentioned apparel. Same thing for "feminine" tops, skirts, heels and etc. - when a guy wears it as a guy we should see the different aesthetics of it, and not compare how it might look on a female.
There is nothing worse than double standard!

I regularly get compliments from women about my legs. I also get the old, "my god youv'e got better legs than some women I know" and so on. I have yet to counter women that say this with "well why don't you encourage guys to try out skirts?"

Heels definitely change the shape of one's legs, I have found my legs look much better when i wear my heeled boots. I remember in my Rocky Horror days how awesome my legs looked when I was in stilletos, black hose and mini dress. But then again I was going for a truly feminine look. Funny how I had so many girls want to make out with me:). I miss that. lol
