Above the knee or below the knee!

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

But who is to say what constitutes "good legs"? Do we have to have a beauty approval certificate before we can choose how we wish to dress? I sincerely hope not.

If the owner is happy to show them off and feels comfortable doing so, then so long as decency is maintained let him/her enjoy dressing how he/she wants to.

Have fun,

Ian.

I'm with Ian on this, what constitutes good legs? Thick, muscular, hairy legs or what's always been known as "good Legs" since men's legs weren't as popular and only women's legs were looked at openly?? I'd think any kind of healthy legs would be "good legs" regardless of skin tone or musculature. Size or length or thickness or hairyness shouldn't matter at all. 8)

The "good legs" are the legs that bring me on the top of the mountain with no issue. The rest is not on the top of the priorities. :D

I agree wholeheartedly! My legs have an assortment of marks left from years of carrying me into caves, up mountains, and down trails. Those are marks of experience that distinguish them from legs that have lead less interesting lives. As long as they keep me walking, running, and hiking, they're 'good legs"!

As I wear only miniskirts - I'd say 'above the knee'!
But in general I'd say it would have to depend on the mood or occasion - and of course if you've got the legs for the shorter ones! :)

I prefer below the knee for modesty and comfort. :)

Although I used to wear a long Moroccan jellaba in winter (both in Morocco and later in France), I now feel uncomfortable in long skirts, and those I had have been shortened to (slightly above) knee length.
I sometimes wish I still had a jellaba on cold winter evenings, but they are not really convenient for walking, imho.

Delurking briefly: Y'all don't hear much from me as I view the site on my cell phone, which isn't powerful enough to log in.

I like above the knee in the summer, particularly while hiking. My wife and her friends say that because of all of the walking I do I have great legs and should show them off. Longer is good in the cool weather. U-Ks are good for hiking because they allow a lot of freedom of movement. I need to shorten the skirts from Mtn. Hardwear just a bit. They grab at my knees on long hill climbs. A number of years ago I picked up something called a Cameleon at a RenFair. It is a tiedye unisex thing that can be worn in different configurations. I think it looks best as a long skirt on men and as a mid-length dress on women. They have the right stuff to make the top look great.

Re-lurking for now. I don't know when I will next have the real computer turned on for awhile.

Here's the link to the Cameleon website. Looks an interesting garment.

I agree that who is to say what are "good" and "bad" legs. Now no one hesitates to wear shorts just because they have "bad" legs, so why should a mini skirt or dress be any different? Mine are always above the knee, and most are minis of some sort. I am sure my legs aren't as "good" as they were when I was younger, but, so what?

I have one mid calf skirt the rest of around the knee and above.
I would like to find an ankle length skirt for cooler weather, since I have not been able to find one long enough I guess I will have to make one this fall to keep me warm next winter.

phathack:

Have you given some thought to wearing 'Kilt' Sox; slouch sox or even soccer sox ?
The knees don't freeze but the bottom half of the leg if covered with ankle to knee length sox should be
adequate unless you are on an artic exposition.
Another thing to consider is tights or leggings - but then you are covering way more than necessary on the leg;
but then that might not be so bad.
"Damn the Dress Code" wear what you feel is necessary for your own comfort and style !

"Off-Kilter-For-The-Moment"

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

RichardA, I bet that skirt would be interesting for jumping over gaps or across holes in the ground. HeHeHe :faint:
