What's under your skirt?

Post by whitesocks »

Is it acceptable to commando style whilst wearing a skirt or kilt? I always go commando but have to be aware that a short skirt can reveal parts that shouldn't really be revealed. What do others think?

I wear shoes or sandals and sometimes socks -- at least that's my "standard" answer.

Realistically, I was raised wearing underwear, hence, I can't even imagine running around in a kilt or skirt without underwear. It's bred into me.

Me and my shoes or sandals. I've taken to wearing sandals more and more. My feet are getting tanned with a tan line across the top. Hummmm...

Well, for me, the answer is normally...sandals, or bare feet! *laughs* You did say UNDER your skirt, right?

Well, as for the original question...when considering what to have under the skirt, consider....a) how long is the skirt, b) does it have a tendency to "ride up" or "unfurl" (in the case of sarongs) in wind, whether natural or due to ventilation or the "piston effect" (what Marylin Monroe demonstrated), c) what's the material? Both to consider how it is "against the skin", but also, semi-transparent and translucent materials, you must have at least something underneath, d)how "comfortable" do you feel, and are (e) you good at watching how you sit (shorter the skirt, more important this is). Those are the important questions. What I will say is...sometimes in the past I've worn TWO Sarongs, one over another, and tied in opposite directions, to defeat any wind.

If a skirt is long and opaque enough, doesn't "ride up", and the wearer doesn't sit in "the wrong way"....then what's worn underneath is COMPLETELY irrelevant.

Not 15 square dance petticoats under 1 pencil skirt???? Would walk sort of like a human with a corn cob stuck up it's...........MUG?

I'm not completely kidding with that. I'm 67 and was schooled in the 50's when one of the fashions of the day for young high school girls was to stick 3 or 4 very stiff petticoats inside a mid calf straight skirt and walk like they were frozen in place. This was the time when they wore only 3 fashions to school. Either a Poodle skirt type skirt or dress with many petticoats under or a straight or pencil skirt or what they called "pedalpushers" which were skin tight capri length pants. Pedalpushers often got a girl kicked out of class for the day and sent home to change into "real" girls clothes. A dress or skirt. How things DO change. :alien:

Transvestites were very rare and the only really well known "transgendered person" was The first man in America to go for the entire operation, Henceforth known as "Kristine Jorgensen".
That happened in 1954.

Long (knee length) undershirts. No pants. I always have skirts below the knee, so no problem. Keep the freedom of the skirt, i say.

Long Undershirts-was What's under your skirt?

Post by Uncle Al »

Jack,

I've looked many different places, but I can't find
long undershirts. I may have to take two shirts,
cut one off below the arms and sew it to the
bottom of another undershirt. Before I drag out
the sewing machine, where did you find your
long undershirts?

{sigh}

[Mod hat on]

OK, enough. At this point in time I'd like to remind folks of the general rules of SkirtCafe, especially:

3. SkirtCafe is a family-friendly fashion forum. No adult material. No discussion of clothing not meant to be seen in public, unless it affects clothing that IS meant to be seen. Underwear is NOT public fashion.

Explicit discussion of undergarments -- especially those that do not have a direct and tangible effect on the outer garment being worn -- does little to improve the public perception of men wearing skirted garments; rather it has the reverse -- the general public perceives any man they see in a skirt as some form of pervert. This is not helpful.

I'm sure that we all have our preferences of "unmentionables", and that's fine. I have mine, but I'm not about to broadcast it to the world because some things are just not meant to be seen in public. What one does in private is a different matter altogether, but this is a public place and should be treated as such.
