Irish mens skirt company

Post by DTSA »

I recently came accross this company in Ireland that sells mens denim skirts and a denim kilt. The website is http://www.skirts-men.com and they ship free to Europe.

Thanks for the info and link 8) :!:

I've emailed them asking if they offer sizes larger
than a 38" waist. I hope they respond fairly soon

Nice to see a site like this show up. I hope they make it. Both denim skirts are likely woman's skirts being resold here as men's skirts. You can tell by the short zippers and small pockets. I have seen this style on numerous woman's clothing sites. I wonder if they ripped out the labels and added their own? The kilt-skirt actually looks like someone's idea of a contemporary kilt, just a bit long for a kilt.

Still, I hope they make it and it would be nice to eventually see something specifically made for men.

Works for me. I like mine a little shorter as the norm, but nice that they are advertised for men. I'll bet John is right, but still a gain for us. Thanks for the site DTSA!

Hi, I looked at them too and you are correct. They are just womens skirts with shallow pockets and a short zipper. I applaud their effort tho, the more skirts out there - the more accepted they will become. Perhaps in the future they will sell a mans skirt. Rob

Well, I just revisited the web-site and I disagree that these
are womans skirts. The cut of the waist, zipper and size of
the pockets are all standard on a pair of mens jeans.

Personally, I'd like to see the top of the skirt the same as in
the picture, but at the bottom of the zipper, have pleats go
all arround instead of a straight line. Box pleats would work
too as it would maintain the straight lines, but allow more
freedom of movement.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth.

This is their reply to my email - - -
Hi Al,

Currrently we do not have skirts sizes over 38 inch waist but may
do so at a later stage. The material is 100% cotton denim. The
skirts are pre-shrunk before manufacture and should therefore retain
their size. The color will fade slightly after frequent washing as in
denim jeans - the rugged effect becoming gradually more pronounced.

Skirts are standard length of 25 to 26 inches depending on how high
around the waist area they sit. We do not presently have any 24 inches
in length.

Later in the year we expect to routinely deliver from a warehouse in
the USA and offer free ground delivery within the USA. However we
can ship now at any time to the USA for an additional shipping charge
of Euro 18.85 as they would be sent directly from our European warehouse.

As presently the skirts would be sent internationally you might have
to pay tax to the US authorities. We are not aware if these charges
are always applied as they are of course outside our control.

If you have more questions please do contact us.

Thank you very much for your comments about the website!

Best regards,

Dara
Well, things are looking good for this company.
I look foward to their U.S. shipping and larger sizes.

I wish them well :!:

I dont think they are womens skirts, since they seem to be too small in the hips. My waist is size 34, and my hips 37-straight up and down, and these skirts wouls be fine on me. A womens skirt with a size 34 waist would have hips of 44 to 46, and would show on these models, which are male models. My 2 penny worth.

I ordered one of the 'kilts' in denim, I wasn't so sure of the skirts... they looked like something my nan would wear. These ARE women's skirts,
the zippers may be long but who uses a zipper on a skirt when answering the call of nature? The cut of the skirts isn't very great, IMHO.
Still, the 'kilt' for 39 Euro's isn't bad. I don't know how long it takes to ship.

I rther liked the story of the Emperor's new clothes, especially the start where his wife wore a skirt because she wasn't in the mood to wear trousers, whereas he was expected to wear trousers whatever his mood. I know just how he felt. :cussing:

Sadly, it was a women's kilt... and the build quality was so bad, The material was too light, it was overly shiny and the pleats were wrong. You could tell this was straight from a sweat shop in the Far East :blue: I couldn't bring myself to wear it... in fact the whole experience put me off
these 'alternative' kilts I'll stick to the genuine stuff  I could have saved 30 Euro and bought a denim skirt in a charity shop

You sure the story you're talking about is Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes"?

I remember it this way...An emperor of a prosperous city who cares more about clothes than military pursuits or entertainment hires two swindlers who promise him the finest suit of clothes from the most beautiful cloth. This cloth, they tell him, is invisible to anyone who was either stupid or unfit for his position. The Emperor cannot see the (non-existent) cloth, but pretends that he can for fear of appearing stupid; his ministers do the same. When the swindlers report that the suit is finished, they dress him in mime. The Emperor then goes on a procession through the capital showing off his new "clothes". During the course of the procession, a small child cries out, "But he has nothing on!" The crowd realizes the child is telling the truth. The Emperor, however, holds his head high and continues the procession.

Skip,

It's a 'take-off' of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes"
but with a twist. Not bad, but not that memorable either.

Hello Gael4ce

We replied to your query about sizes for Denim Skirt DS1, the following day 29 April 2009 and sent you 4 further emails since then, offering you 2 more skirts completely free of charge. (in order to ensure that you received the correct fitting.
Alternatively we would send you a complete refund including shipping cost for the skirt you already purchased.

Obviously you did not receive these emails as we have not received any replies.

Therefore on 13 May we emailed you a full refund (including shipping cost) through your PayPal registered email address.

I see that you have not yet claimed your refund as it still shows as “Unclaimed” on PayPal.

Possibly there is some email error somewhere.

Could you please contact service@emperman.com
because I really would like to resolve this to your satisfaction.

Please see updated information on home page about delivery to USA. http://www.emperman-skirts.com
But our offer to you of 2 skirts free of charge (including free shipping) still stands if you wish.

Thank you and best regards,

Dabo.
