Oh, man! You shouldn't have told me that. Now I feel compelled to run out and buy a pair of mittens, just to be contrary!

I believe mittens are wormer then gloves. 4 fingers wrapped together are warming each other. But they are not really practical to do anything. Have one pair, made by my wife in black wool.

Then I suppose the argument could be made that skirts are warmer since your legs are together and not bundled separately. Probably would be true except for the big hole in the bottom of the skirt! Hmm, perhaps elastic would do the trick, cinch that skirt up around the ankles! Ah, I think I have the perfect design for a manskirt, cinched around the waist and the ankles. No woman would want to wear it. Now only if I can figure out how to walk in it....

You guys realize this is play on "men in skirts", right? I just got this comment from Todd J, Todd, are you a member of this site?

------------
Wow, guess I never realized that I was color-blind. I guess that’s all men are supposed to see and enjoy… black and brown?? Maybe tan if it’s a special day? Unlike SOME men, I enjoy the full ranged spectrum of colors. God made them, we (everyone, men and women) should enjoy them. Why is is that only one sex gets to have the fun of adorning themselves in a color that fits their mood.

Just doesn’t make sense why some people perpetuate the drab mentality for men. No wonder guys are so f@$ked up!

I just posted a reply:
If you really need mittens or gloves as a visual clue to the wearer’s gender, you really should get out more. Let’s go the extra mile and insist that women only wear skirts while when they are wearing gloves - how else will we tell the sexes apart?

From a man who wears BLUE gloves and enjoys wearing skirts and kilts while still being recognisable as a man.
It's awaiting moderation, so it probably won't appear

Men shouldn't say silly things in their blogs.

I live in New England. And I ride my bike. Everywhere. All year. In the winter. And if you want my mittens, you'll have to pry them off my cold, dead hands.

Bob,
Nice to hear from you again!

The point of writing that blog was to illuminate the absurdity of men being required to wear pants and women being able to wear skirts and -- oh yea, pants if they are so inclined. I may have been too subtle for some, apparently, people are taking me seriously. Which means ---- I need to write more absurdities!

Hope things are going well for you.

A good many years ago, a truly great sage of our times, Tom Lehrer, famously commented, "In a world where Henry Kissinger can win the Nobel Peace Prize, there is no room for satire." Methinks you're suffering the same slings and arrows.

In a serious vein, I sometimes really wonder if modern societies (especially the US) can actually appreciate that most sublime of art forms. Everybody gets parody; it's easy. satire, on the other hand, is parody's educated brother and can be vastly more cutting and relevant. It makes the difference between the Three Stooges and Blazing Saddles (the latter of which could not be produced today because (1) it's not PC and (2) nobody would "get it"). I mourn the loss of satire.

Skip;

Try to paste it into a Word Document. Save the
Document. Then copy from the Word Document,
and paste it into your post for this forum. I've had
to do a simular thing to make a post here.
It's crazy, but it works
